“That's the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that it's impossible to ever see the end.” #depression #MentalHealthMatters

I can relate to this on such a deep level!
The boycott clearly took months of PLANNING, solidarity, strategy, and commitment. NINE months elapsed from the time they met with the governor in March 1964 to the official start and mobilization of the boycott. It was NOT an overnight matter.

🔹️These boycotts will not create change immediately. Stay the course!!!
⚠️Below is a breakdown of the Montgomery Bus Boycott. We are talking OVER A YEAR of work before any fruit was seen. Don't be discouraged. Don't give up. 💪🏾
🧵⬇️
🔹️Remember that civil disobedience/boycotts take time. Social change, while it should be easy and linear, it is not. The process may need to happen several times. People may need to become more diligent in their form of resistance. Sometimes, it just be like that! KEEP GOING!
🧵⬇️
🔹️⚠️Do NOT put yourself in debt, undue hardship or danger to participate in an economic boycott❗️
🔹️Every dollar that is withheld from a corporation is a win. If you normally spend $100 a month at Amazon, and you reduce your investment to $50 a month instead, good! ⬇️💲
🧵⬇️
🔹️If you must shop, we all have needs and things come up, SHOP LOCAL!
🔹️If you are unable to get what you need from a local small business, try to shop with INDEPENDENTLY OWNED franchises/businesses.
🔹️If possible, use cash 💸
🧵⬇️
If you are participating in an economic boycott, please remember the following:
🔹️Do NOT pregame and buy a bunch of stuff. Also, do NOT postgame shop and buy a bunch of stuff.
🔹️Avoid "big box" companies 🚫(Walmart, Target, Publix, Amazon)
