A neurospicy, liberal, covid-cautious quilter recovering from long covid who is excited about one day releasing their first pattern. I enjoy free motion quilting & ruler quilting on a domestic machine. 🧵 Ex-Postie (by a different name)!

Some awesome things I have learned in the journey of life:

1. Assume good intent

2. People (including kids) do well if they can

What have you learned in life that has served you well?
Ohhh thats what I’m doing now. Cutting template pieces out of hundreds of squares. Hehehehe, with a good show playing on my phone for entertainment.
And it does make such a huge difference, doesn’t it?
What part of quilting do you like the least? For me it is cutting fabric.

I’ve been working on cutting the fabric for the past 6 months from a quilt kit I got eons ago! That’s how not excited about cutting fabric I am.

Anyone who wears Meta's (or any other brand's) surveillance glasses is complicit with fascism. Pass it on.
New: a $60 mod to Meta's Ray-Ban glasses disables the privacy LED light. This is supposed to light when people are filming with the glasses. We bought the mod, verified it works. Now you can never be sure whether someone wearing Meta Ray-Bans is filming you or not

A $60 Mod to Meta’s Ray-Bans Disables Its Privacy-Protecting Recording Light
Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses usually include an LED that lights up when the user is recording other people. One hobbyist is charging a small fee to disable that light, and has a growing list of customers ar...

What is autistic burnout like? When a computer goes into safe mode, "that would describe what happens to the brain: it runs on limited function, not all services are available, & its access to the Internet denied & unable to connect." @kieranrose.bsky.social:

An Autistic Burnout — THINKING PERSON'S GUIDE TO AUTISM
The sad truth is that so many Autistic people—kids & adults—go through autistic burnout with zero comprehension of what is happening to them.

On Threads, the usual suspects are telling ppl about to lose SNAP benefits to just start a garden. As a gardener, I had to laugh. You need at LEAST an acre of land to feed a family of 4. Start-up costs are enormous. But yes, subsistence farming on the balcony of your rental apartment is the answer

Breaking: The Supreme Court is now officially considering taking up a case overturning same-sex marriage.

This is the first time in history the court has considered rolling back this right.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Did you get the pattern to test and then the final releasable version of the pattern? That is what I was planning to do, assuming some tweaks need to be made to the pattern before release.
No Nazis. Period. That’s the fucking line.
Do you have tips for requesting and working with pattern testers? In the next few months I’ll be ready to share my pattern with a select few to test and am curious on best practices.

"Let me explain my Nazi tattoo" is not something I want to hear from a Democratic Senate candidate. We can raise the bar higher than that. Also, I'm all for angry mavericks running for Senate, but with that personality type, "Is he a future Fetterman?" is a legitimate question.
So happy to have finished a quilt top variation from my very own pattern today! And I found a few “bugs” in my pattern so got to fix them too.

In Mexico, blackouts caused by data centers destroyed people's refrigerators and oxygen equipment in hospitals, and water shortages meant toilets couldn't flush in schools.

AI is another version of colonial extraction.
“By 2035, data centers globally are projected to use about as much electricity as India…according to the International Energy Agency. A single data center can also use more than 500,000 gallons of water a day, nearly as much as an Olympic-size swimming pool.”

This post is funny, but it just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the history of feminine labor and craft.

Spinsters dismantled the Spinning Jenny by hand. Suffragettes used acid and bombs to attack politicians. Militant textile workers went on strike by the tens of thousands.
The Venn Diagram of protestors today who would count as hardcore antifa that are ready to take up arms for the revolution and people whose primary hobby is quilting would be interesting to see.

US gov accounts are here to harass people, quote direct trouble

blocklists interface can be a little counterintuitive if you're unfamiliar with them, because Subscribe understandably sounds like the opposite of what you'd want to do, but that's where the option is to block all. it's what I'm doing🥷🏼

Idaho started ACA open enrollment. Here's a preview for the rest of us.

When your rates rise and you can't afford coverage, remember that it's the GOP who made it happen.

I expect cobra coverage to go up too. I’m on cobra now and can’t afford to stay on it (lost my job) so was going to switch to ACA but won’t be able to afford that either.
These state troopers are NAZI goons. Nothing more.
State troopers in riot gear just plowed into the crowd, started arresting protesters and clergy.
It’s wonderful to be back at my sewing machine again. Besides sewing some star variations for a quilt I am also working on the next iteration of my first pattern.
