It would be tacky and obvious to buy and read either of these books, with their creepy, atmospheric, unsettling stories, in October. Come on. You're better than that.

Between them ‘Municipal Gothic’ and ‘Intervals of Darkness’ have 27 stories full of haunted buildings, haunted people, and working class weirdness. Obviously *I* think they're great – but so do strangers who owe me nothing!

The covers of both books with quotes in praise of them, and of specific stories:

“‘Modern Buildings In Wessex’, which pulls a compelling horror narrative out of several architectural reviews, is an all-timer. Can’t recommend enough... Fans of Ghostwatch and Inside No. 9 – run don’t walk.”

Trevor Henderson

“...a tremendous collection, hugely enjoyable, and essential... for anyone interested in the English ghost story... ‘Men Who Live in Caravans’... is one of my very favourite stories of recent years: a future classic of the English weird, full of an almost unbearable sadness, quite exquisitely told.”

Sometime you spend more of the day than you should trying to make a window the right size with a normal human readable sized font.

Nothing I've written, is a weird app you probably haven't heard of called *checks notes* PowerBI

@montecookgames.com books are really good for helping you build your own worlds (on cypher or not)

@modiphius.bsky.social really capture the spirit of their franchise properties - dune for example capture the feel. The spice must flow!

There is a reason you can't DM me on blusky. Who knew what all the security experts said would happen would happen? A mystery wrapped in a puzzle inside an enigma.

Anyway I hope when pornhub's age verifier is eventually hacked every MP who voted for this gets to join Julian Fawcett MP in infamy.

What is interesting is I don't know where the line is, very much a "I'll know it when I see it situation". I'd be curious what makes a do or do not decision for other people? /End #TTRPG

One of the current humble bundles got me thinking about run Vs play. I could comfortably play in an avatar campaign, but I couldn't run it for my mates (who love Avatar) because I'd know way less than them and it would just be immersion breaking. 1/ #TTRPG

Haven't made it to the game yet but the scene setting at the start of Cold War by @handiworkgames.bsky.social is brilliant. More RPGs should introduce the world through fake documents.

The RIAA was suing teenagers. We had to sit through ⬇️ this shit anytime we wanted to watch a DVD. A whole generation shamed for using Limewire and torrents. Only for these silicone valley assholes to now find copyright infringement a necessary evil they shouldn’t have to answer for

Someone just sent me Simon Calder's video whinging about the EU Entry-Exit System kiosk here, which is full of… let's call them inaccuracies, shall we?

It's not… accurate, it's not helpful, but it *is* an example of the very worst of British travel media rubbish.

I really hate the dogwhistle "would you leave your front door open for anyone to come in" question. That's the wrong question.
The real analogy is "If a stranger knocked on your door and asked you for help, would you help them?"

and for me, the answer is yes, in a heartbeat. every time.

Very proud of my fellow Green councillors for proposing this motion. "We are a rich tapestry, we are strengthened by our diversity, and we must stand up as a council and as a city for that diversity, unite against the far right and the divisive narratives of them." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

"but it's everywhere now so we just have to accept it's the new reality" motherfucker we can just stop putting it everywhere! we did it with asbestos and CFCs and lead-based paint or petrol and make-up with arsenic in it! if everyone is using something and it's bad, we can choose to stop!

I was looking at a tourist thing the other day and the whole "Exit through the gift shop" phenomenon and I think I'm going to do a one shot where having fought through the dungeon full of properly dangerous automatons and killed the "big bad" the final room is like the gift shop of an escape room.
