Being from Buffalo I wouldn’t say it’s the Midwest, but it’s Rust Belt which includes some of the Midwest. It has a post-industrial landscape and fish fry but not prevailing Protestantism or Big 10 football. The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald is a hymn but politics are generally more left of center.
