I know the headline everyone's running with is "erotica" but "we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues" and "we are putting personality back in ChatGPT so it will act like a friend" are diametrically opposed statements

that's the cause of most of the mental health issues

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

Before you embark on a journey of revenge see if you can do it near a construction site because then someone else already did all your gravedigging for you

Is this because the RLHF trainer people or whatever you call them keep ranking positive and agreeable content higher

Hahahaha! Maybe the problem is that these A.I.s weren’t bitter enough

I guess he must mean that Charlie said this to him soon after the assassination attempt on himself but he makes it sound like Charlie's annoyed ghost told him this recently

Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."

I think a large part of the problem is that companies do not have a mom to tell them, "If all of your friends jumped off a bridge..."

The other problem is there were other companies that were planning to take their time and not roll stuff out until it was ready and they had a use they were sure about, but then OpenAI jumped the gun and everyone was like oh hell the cat's out of the bag, I guess we all have to go now

I think that the general concept of machine learning (not today's models) will have applications that benefit broader society many years from now, but the problem is OpenAI jumped the gun and promised everyone those applications exist now and are now on the hook to prove it or lose all their money

He actually reminds me of the character designs in the I Want My Hat Back children's books. Which are great by the way. Apparently the ending is controversial? That's nuts, do those people let their kids read Red Riding Hood

I can't find the one where it said "in case you get super revenge" =(

All of the variations I've seen on this are good

Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves. One for practice and the other one is the "main" grave.

I sure could

Deep in the article, there are quotes from young liberal staffers too. There is a problem with inflammatory rhetoric on both sides.

If you know me personally you can say somewhere on the application that you know me and then they will send me a questionnaire asking if I know you and how well but I think they just ignore it if I don't say "we worked together at a job"

Well if anyone wants to work with me, and I don't blame you if you don't, I guess my team is hiring. This is a listing but the way Google hiring works is that like 5 random people I don't know interview you and if you pass, you get put in a pool and can talk to me www.google.com/about/career...

I was looking through Revolutionary War flags and most of them are variants on the Betsy Ross flag and there's the Gadsden flag but I think this one's my favorite. He's WATCHING you

I'm just asking questions. I'm investigating, I haven't drawn any conclusions. Why don't you want me to even investigate? Afraid of the answers? Thank you, now if you don't mind I have some raccoons to photoshop

If it got big enough you could even get better than the hyperfixation, you could get a guy that was like "oh I live down the street from that pit, would you like me to get you a picture?"

This is really pushing Betteridge's law. Do raccoons secretly control the UN? Are teens across the country embracing haruspicy? Do the souls of the four presidents inhabit their likenesses on Mount Rushmore, begging to be freed from their eternal prison?
Patrick Bet-David. But could he possibly be eliciting the thirst of young lefty women? Over several weeks, I traced this rumor across TikTok and Tumblr. I watched fancam edits, mapped accounts, and interviewed a dozen people in their twenties and early thirties, both people who'd made posts about Fuentes and those whose fandom was more private. There is a dedicated and TikTok-native Fuentes fandom, but searching through the misspellings and alternate tags that users reference him with (to avoid the filter TikTok uses to suppress content about him), only a few prolific editors dominate the results. The rest is noise-ephemeral accounts spun up around attention spikes. Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a
question mark can be answered by the word no." It is based on the assumption that if the publishers were confident that the answer was yes, they would have presented it as an assertion; by presenting it as a question, they are not accountable for whether it is correct or not.

I want to say "in Soviet Russia, you save God" but I'm afraid people will interpret it as some tiresome Putin conspiracy meme instead of a tiresome Yakov Smirnoff meme

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."

"This technology opens up infinite possibilities limited only by your imagination. You could uh put yourself in the Avengers as a new superhero. You could be uh Cool Man. Also Richard Nixon could be there" wait sorry that's too imaginative, make that "also Harry Potter could be there"

Why is it whenever some article is like "imagine what AI could do" it's always something boring and awful. Like it's not even a limitation of AI itself it's purely on the writer. They could have come up with any idea they wanted and the best they had was, what if an actor was in a different show
