A curated platter of pop culture chatter. Movies! Comics! Books! Old, uncool music! Progressive theology! Photos from hikes I’ve taken! The world’s on fire. I’ll have things to say about that. Bluesky Elder & world’s biggest Martian Manhunter fan.

Hello, Bluesky! Allow me to introduce myself.

I’m MMorzz. I love comics, movies, books, & music. Sometimes I write about them. My idea of a good time is a long hike, followed by reading comics & books to the sound of jazz, big band music, & good old rock n roll, & ending with damn good movies. 📽️📚💙

Being president is a pretty unique job. I feel like a man who doesn't know when he had that job is probably not qualified to continue in that job.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

Interview With The Vampire (1994) is a sumptuous visual and auditory feast with terrific performances from Tom Cruise, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, and Stephen Rae (Brad Pitt’s kind of a stiff, but not fatally so).

They hate America’s freedoms. They hate our ability to speak our minds, our ability to worship (or not) as we choose; they hate the free press and the equality of women and minorities and of the LGBTQ+ communities.

They are profoundly un-American.

Mike Johnson: "This hate America rally that they have coming up for October 18? The antifa crowd, the pro-Hamas crowd, and the Marxists, they're all gonna gather on the Mall. It is an outrageous gathering for outrageous purposes ... all this has gotta come to an end."

Boy do I enjoy season one of The Rings of Power. As a huge Jackson-trilogy LotR fan it feels of a piece with those films and of an admirably high quality. I’ve no idea how faithful it is or what others think about it, but I’m excited to start season two.

I maintain that Pixar’s LUCA is top ten stuff. Their most Ghibli-ish film with a wonderfully Miyazakian sense of time & place; a marvelous focus on, and emotional specificity about, boys’ friendships. Sasha Baron Cohen shows up in this film for literally ONE MINUTE & makes me laugh uproariously.
