@darthbluesky.bsky.social drum roll…
FRANKIE FOUND A HOME! So sad I won’t see that handsome face anymore, but he deserves all the love and treats and pets. Thanks everyone for following his journey, it was nice sharing him with you!!

- Undoc ppl can’t qualify for fed-funded health care
- Doc ppl are eligible to *purchase* insurance but the admin is cutting who, like refugees & asylees, even more
- Doc ppl have a 5yr wait for Medicaid
- Dems want affordability & accessibility extended *for those who qualify.*

I do know that other cats do stress him out (living in NYC with a roommate in my older years irritated me too). But not sure about dogs, I’ll look into to it!

Cupid is actually NINETEEN years old so he deserves to be pissed 😂 (he’s a v good boy, just demands more helpings of dinner)

@darthbluesky.bsky.social update: So sad to report that Frankie is still @ the shelter today, 9/29. But that just means his fam is still out there! If you know anyone in the SW who wants a silly floof, check out his profile (he’s still open, give them a call!)

@darthbluesky.bsky.social can we all cross our fingers for Frankie today? He was in a house fire and has been at the shelter for many weeks. He’s such a love bug, he deserves the best family and I think they may have arrived today. I go back Monday and I’m hoping he’ll be gone to his forever home 🤞

Ironically, I’m celebrating my 14th cancerversary today - the day my bone tumor was cut out of my knee. And I prob wouldnt be here without leucovorin. Osteosarcoma patients depend on this drug for the best outcomes. The inevitable shortages will terrorize patients and even endanger their lives.

I read to the shy cats at the local shelter on a weekly basis and am training them to review their own health policy papers. Let us know if you ever need an expert paw!

TRIPLE vaxxed! So excited to get my COVID shot today, along w flu & tetanus (was due -every 10 years, y’all!). If you can, I highly recommend doing it now. I usually wait a bit longer, but ACIP (federal vax committee) meets next week, & we can’t predict what the RFK admin will do as far as access.
Mina shows off her upper arm band-aids after getting her covid, flu, and tetanus shots. She is giving a silly scowl and wearing a navy blue Zohran for New York City tee with the sleeves rolled up.

I live in New Mexico and people, on more than one occasion, have stopped me to tell me they like my tee. @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

When I was helping people navigate the ACA marketplace, my clients w/ subsidies included retired coal miners, the owner of the local diner, and parents caring for their disabled adult children. Congress has had plenty of time to act. They know what’s at stake. Rs are *choosing* to increase costs.
citizencohn.bsky.social
Republicans said their tax cuts cost nothing, because they just extended provisions already in place

By that logic, extending ACA temporary subsidies -- and sparing millions from insurance premium spikes -- would also cost nothing

Will Rs apply the same logic? www.thebulwark.com/p/a-massive-...
A Massive Health Care Shock Is Coming
And there is little time—and maybe not enough will from Republicans—to avert it.

And there will be 90% fewer Navigators to help enrollees review their options and find other coverage. Navs, under the ACA, provide free, expert, community-based, trusted, unbiased health insurance counseling, education, and outreach. Trump slashed their funding as one of his first acts in office.

This will cost lives. Most undocumented AND documented immigrants are only eligible for emergency Medicaid - to cover the cost of stabilizing them when they are literally dying. How many will forgo necessary care due to fear of deportation? This is heinous.

This is correct. Any candidate cynically “triangulating” on trans kids is a non-starter, and now is the time to say so. There’s still so much time to advance candidates that DON’T suck.

I will never, ever vote for Gavin Newsom. Ever, under any circumstances. I don't care if he becomes the Dem nominee, he's still not getting my vote.
julierei.bsky.social
On a recent podcast Gavin Newsom tells Shawn Ryan how the Trans sports issue opened the door for him to change his mind on GAC for Trans Youth.

As someone who adored him since 2004 and voted for him 5 times, I can't wait for him to leave office.

There is no way I will be voting for him a 6th time.

People always ask me how to support their friend/family member dealing w cancer. This is it. I don’t know this person, but a glance at their story leads me to believe we may have gotten the same horrific diagnosis. Food is the best medicine & relieves so much hardship for patient AND caregivers 🌻

There are 3 weeks between these 2 pics. In the 1st, I’m about to be uninsured. In the 2nd, I’m about to be diagnosed with bone cancer. Thanks to the ACA, I was able to join my parents’ plan and get the care I needed to survive some really crummy treatment. Happy bday to the law that saved my life.

Calling your senator WORKS (I don’t have one-taxation without representation, y’all) and only takes a few seconds. “Hi, I am a constituent from [zip code] and I demand Senator ____ vote no on the continuing resolution.”

So much ACA sabotage in one proposed rule. Long story short: make enrollment less available and more onerous so people give up trying to get covered. Oh, and also take coverage away from DACA recipients, who just got access in Nov.

I am a “long term” survivor of bone cancer thanks to my team at the University of Missouri. While I am here today, it was a long and painful recovery, with lasting side effects. Patients deserve more innovative treatments, which we can’t get if research is defunded.

Navs are funded specifically to reach the hard to reach. To serve those who would otherwise have no access to care. They answer questions, they listen, they advocate, they provide IT access, and they do it while providing a supportive and affirming space so people can make their best decisions.
minaschultz.bsky.social
Comparing Navigators to brokers is apples to oranges. Navigators are funded to help the hard to reach… those who face additional barriers to getting care… those who others refuse to help. This is stripping a critical health care resource from already underserved communities.
minaschultz.bsky.social
“This change will directly benefit people enrolled without subsidies who pay the full premium for their health insurance.” So less than 10% of enrollees will benefit. This will essentially kill the program 😞

Work requirements and per capita caps aren’t the only potential cuts looming for Medicaid. While reductions in federal funding will create risk in all expansion states, some have enacted trigger laws to make it a quick break:
