Yeller in the stands. With the writer of words, in the newspaper margins, in a Birmingham jail.. Vonnegut, Saroyan, Tolstoi, Kingsolver, W.T.Vollmann, Upton Sinclair, Cormac Mccarthy, "The Count of Monte Cristo". I could go on, but you get the idea.

...the worst kind of one party state.. "invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty." Hannah Arendt
"Always remember," the President said, sobbing openly, to his cabinet and staff. "others may hate you, but those who hate you don't win unless you hate them--and then you destroy yourself."
Richard Nixon's farewell address.

Trump has destroyed himself. We have arrived.

The Trump regime has an incredibly sophisticated and widespread propaganda machine behind it—from Fox News to techno-fascist owned social media—yet it’s still losing the messaging war, because no amount of propaganda will ever overcome the constant stream of lies and shit they’re spewing every day.
Pile that worry on top of everything else that is happening.
The expanded premium tax credits were the best. I am now retired and on Medicare. I am sure the high premiums will force people to go without health insurance. People will go to bed worried, afraid they or someone in their family will need medical care and they do not have insurance.
Yes. As one who has experienced the long history of health insurance for my family, from being self-employed and looking to the Chamber of Commerce plans, the closing my business and working overtime to pay my share, then getting an ACA plan when my employer did not provide insurance.
They blame the Democrats....

Regular Americans don’t give a shit about a clean CR. They care that they can afford their insurance premiums.

This is such a powerful observation.

Even small moments of humanity and respect matter.

It reminds us that, even in a divided world, there’s still room for connection and decency.👇

"I'm from the government and I'm here to help," is actually a pretty good slogan and aspiration for a political party.
I suspect a huge part of the reason Republicans are taking the heat for the shutdown is that ending federal programs across the board *just is* the GOP brand. Dems are the party of a government here to help you, & Republicans aren't, so of course as federal programs fail, everyone knows who to blame
With Trump and his cronies using the shutdown as cover to shut off the food stamp program, food banks will soon be flooded with demand from the 42 million Americans--including 16 million kids--who rely on the program. Which means the rest of us will need to step up and give whatever we can.
Those little gas pump tv screens next?
The files were not available to the Biden administration.
The Republicans in congress realize they made a mistake by not delaying these cuts until after the mid-term elections.
The cost of health insurance will be forever a problem in this country until our government provides healthcare for all. Kicking the can down the road is no longer an option. Premium tax credits to help pay ACA premiums are the closest we have come to affordable health insurance in this country.

Speaker Johnson says "Dems can open the gov't, now that "No Kings" is over.
1. This has nothing to do with Dems supporting a budget.
2. "No Kings" is NOT over, EVER.
3. GOP needs to fund continuing support for medical.
4. Ball in GOP court.
Many in the MAGA world will become "unaccomodated" when they lose their ACA premium tax credits.

Red hat-wearing MAGA fascist pulls out Oregon Trail card to pay for a Diet Coke and Doritos — and gets lit up by a man waiting in line behind him. 😳👇
just a good person who truly cares. What will it take for these MAGA people to see they have been fooled?
Good story. There, it was just some guy thinking he is in a club that supports him, meanwhile the guys in his club, the Republican's in Congress, are not looking out for him. He could die tomorrow from starvation and they would not care. He will be saved by this man, not a member of his club,
