Just remembered you can pin posts, so let's revive my twitter tradition of pinning a thread of all the movies I watch in a year, so I can look back on them later.

First up:

Just watched Civil War (2024)

Like other Garland films, it's well directed, beautifully shot, expertly edited, gripping, yet strangely not really about much.

Not a criticism, per se. I really enjoy his stuff, but I think some of this films critics were expecting something else.

We shouldn't laugh. People who identify as attack helicopters only do this if they're in distress.

“I don’t know how to fly a helicopter, but I can tell something’s wrong if I see one in a tree”
A silver and orange helicopter has crashed into the side of a white, Spanish-style building lined with palm trees. The aircraft is tilted nose-down, wedged against the structure’s balcony area, with its tail and rotor blades bent around nearby trees. The scene is cordoned off by a chain-link fence, and the bright blue sky and sunlight give the setting an oddly calm contrast to the chaotic wreck.

I know that streaming services are blamed for a decline in CD sales but, being the contrary bitch I am, every time I subscribe to a streamer I end up buying *more* albums.

Now playing:
Cover art for Oumou Sangaré's "Timbuktu"

This is a really beautiful album. You should check it out.

New product on my shop, The Longest Cat.
This is a set of four stamps to create cute mutant cats.

We finished S2 of Interview with the Vampire last night and OH MY GODS that ending.

Yeah, they certainly changed a few things from the book.

What a wonderfully OTT love story, and dropping Akasha's name at the end nearly had me out of my seat screaming in Old Nerd.

BRING ME SEASON THREE!

working on my essay about how Ozymandias is actually the hero of Watchmen because he defeats destiny itself and secures his place in history permanently. Apparently there’s some poem I need to read but I’ll do that later

The vaulted undercroft at Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire. The abbey was originally established by Benedictine monks from St Mary's Abbey in York in 1132 and became one of the largest Cistercian houses in England. 📸 My own. #MedievalMonday #FountainsAbbey #Yorkshire

It really is. Good god, what absolute tosh.

I've read a lot of conspiracy theories over the years & this has the same delusional vibe.

I can only assume he's misread the other books as badly as he has Gulliver & Watchmen.

This would get an F in any English Lit class. Hot garbage.
