Low bills & clean energy.

This is the future that Reform is trying to thwart
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.

I have to imagine far-right Catholics are really struggling with the fact that they can now hear this stuff in English directly from the pope.
“How did you receive the foreigner? And did you receive him and welcome him or not?”

Pope Leo XIV challenges us to reflect on the moral cost of policies that target deeply-root immigrants and families.

If she chooses not to identify as English, but accepts those who do, that's completely fine - though it would involve conceding her argument against the now long-settled consensus in this country

For a bit I forgot that the current political movement was won with a weak minority and is managed by annoying dorks who nobody likes who have terrible vibes. This video has 1.3 million likes and is a good reminder that better things are possible, even for those of us outside NYC. A good night!

It’s fascinating comparing the front page coverage of the Huntingdon train attack (below) with how the British press treated another case 30 years ago.

I’m referring to the 1995 Netto supermarket attack in Birmingham in which a man stabbed 10 people, killing one of them.

A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.
School colleagues can be so supportive and so can the students. Routine is good and we are lucky to be in a job where the day flies by! Good luck

so the couple who are basically my Husband's parents have a story where they went to marriage therapy in the 60s in NYC and the big take away was "Do you drink Gin?" they said yes and the therapist said Switch to vodka Gin makes people aggressive and they stand by it to this day

Mostly I wonder how these folks expect to sell anything once they achieve their glorious utopia of "No boss has to deal with that pesky hassle of having employees."
one might wonder about the motivations of the powerful who are highly incentivized to replace humans with cheaper and more tractable labor, and why THEY might feel motivated to argue that LLMs are Intellectually and Morally Equal to Humans, But Conveniently Only In Ways That Make Us Even More Money

Quite a lot of premature (& often casually/overtly racist) commentary like this two Black "British" men from ex-academic Matthew Goodwin, or comments of Advance leader Ben Habib inferred the existence of 2 suspects/perpetrators must mean police were covering something up about terrorist motives

▪️ If it's an immigrant...
"See!"

▪️ If it's not an immigrant, but they're not white (or don't have a white British name)...
"See! Next generation of immigrants!"

▪️ If it's a white guy with a British name...
"See! See what these immigrants made good peaceful people do?!"

We're now at "black people aren't British". Open sewer racism. Look forward to seeing him on QT again soon.

Dan Hannan + Douglas Carswell put a lot of emphasis on the equal citizenship of black, Asian and mixed race Britons (especially in 2013-2016, concerned that Farage's nativism + the legacy of Enoch Powell would make it impossible for Reform to reach 50%. Carswell has flipped entirely. Has Hannan?

All in favour of shared spaces that get people out and about and it you’re going to burn money on gambling then yeah, better to do so with a friendly person on hand. But still some incredible “men’s mental health” lobbying against a gambling tax in the Sunday Times. www.thetimes.com/article/f115...

How many of these results (where tactical voting stops Reform) do we need before the polling that says Reform will be the next government are taken less seriously? 🤔 Each time a new poll comes out, it makes the headlines & Reform get more air time as they are 'seen' as the government in waiting.
Another nice example of centre and left votes lining up behind the best candidate to beat Reform.
Bromsgrove South (Worcestershire) Council By-Election Result:

🔶 LDM: 51.9% (+20.3)
➡️ RFM: 33.4% (-1.5)
🌳 CON: 11.3% (-5.8)
🌹 LAB: 3.4% (-4.1)

No GRN (-5.5) or Ind (-3.4) as previous.

Liberal Democrat GAIN from Reform.
Changes w/ 2025.

She's a politician, running for Congress in Illinois. She attended a protest against ICE. ICE brutalized her, tear gassed her, body slammed her to the ground.

And now *she's* been arrested for 'hindering' ICE. She faces eight years in prison.

This is fascism.
