"The EHRC’s exclusionary interim guidance has had a devastating impact on trans people’s lives"

“Now the guidance has been withdrawn, so should the exclusionary policies that organisations rashly implemented in its aftermath. If not, they could find themselves in hot water.”
EHRC withdraws interim guidance encouraging trans exclusion
After six months of confusion and delay, the EHRC has taken down interim guidance rushed out in April. But the damage has already been done.

Heaton Stan haven't lost a game since August. Their last six games have been three wins and three draws. Much more comfortable season so far that last. Think we're growing into this league now

Feel like some of the apparent panic from the EHRC would be because they know the only way to push through the trans segregation is by force and not to look into it with due care so the minister seemingly not brute forcing throws their whole scheme off

Been thinking a lot about this exact thing recently

I should've moved sooner but the final straw was Spotify putting up the threshold for artists to receive any royalties at all to 10k monthly listens. There are artists big enough for me to have seen on UK tours that don't get that and so don't get a penny (or fraction of a penny) from Spotify

I've been on it at the suggestion of @onelifestand87.bsky.social and it's great. Even the very most obscure stuff I knew from Spotify is there too, so no worries at all about not having the same library. I spent years building playlists and they all move over easily

Tbh I didn't really think the No Kings march was gonna be as big as the last one, until I seen how scared the administration obviously is of it

I got the impression that she hadn't read it but had assumed it was a useful comeback to any annoying questions about trans rights (it's not)

I spent time with Preet on the Co-op Party NEC, and in my experience of her, she has zero knowledge/understanding of this topic. In an exchange where I raised concerns about comments from Streeting about "single sex spaces" she referred me to the Cass Report, which is not about "single sex spaces"

You're right, but like, I don't think Corbynism being rooted in the traditions it was was a good thing for anyone

🚨Christian children were told they'd "be Muslim by year 6"!🚨

😱Sounds outrageous?

You know the drill…

If it sounds outrageous and designed to trigger you into being angry with “other” people, then you need to do some 🪏

Given how well-known and loved their work is, at least in the UK, it surprises me how rarely ABBA are ever covered

This (fascinating) audiobook thread reminding me of the hardest choices you have to make as a parent, “how many characters in this book are getting funny voices?” b/w “can I actually do the accent I am attempting?”

Yeah that was true even before Brexit, I stopped going on that subreddit in 2014 and it was very Ukippy then

As it's apparently Columbus Day in America, one niche hill I will die on is that when the song says "They all laughed at Christopher Columbus" they were right to laugh at him. Everyone knew the world was round, and how big it was/

What was the main cultural association to the audience at the time
mbellcoop.bsky.social
Like, when we hear the opening bars we imagine Dracula playing it, and creaky doors to big castles, but surely that's largely cos organ music is rare now and only used in that context in modern media. Also, the whole piece isn't that spooky but the opening bars are
