“Israel is able to kill Palestinian journalists with impunity not just because of the unconditional military support it receives from the US, but also the failure of many western media organizations and journalists to stand up for their Palestinian colleagues” — my oped @theguardian.com
Western journalists are failing to stand up for their colleagues in Gaza | Mohamad Bazzi
This hypocrisy of western media has been laid bare by Israel’s targeting of journalists since the 7 October 2023 Hamas attack

When Biden violated US law to give Israel a thirty day deadline to comply with a series of steps in October 2024 I was assured by many people on here that he was finally going to impose consequences. Anyway Israel didn't comply with a single step and Blinken claimed they were in compliance anyway.

fact it didn’t fucking work. It didn’t work electorally, it didnt work geopolitically, it didn’t work for tens of thousands of dead palestinians

Marco Rubio, attending Trump-Sisi meeting in Sharm el-Sheikh, claims today "might be one of the most important days for world peace in 50 years."

Trump interjects: "Only 50?"

Rubio, quickly replies: "Maybe 100."

Laughter in the room. End scene.

It’s important to state that the war is not over. There is a ceasefire in Gaza at the moment but Israel’s war is on all its enemies (real or perceived) and includes its actions in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, Iran and the attack on Qatar. I don’t think these events can be analysed in isolation

“Trump’s willingness to strong-arm Netanyahu was the key to achieving this latest deal. The US president will need to sustain that pressure on Netanyahu to make sure he doesn’t blow up the ceasefire, as he did in March, and resume Israel’s genocidal war” — my latest for @theguardian.com

Critics both to the left and right of the Sumud Flotilla are not allowed to say anything if they aren't doing something substantive themselves. 2 years of genocide and Western complicity and at least these brave souls try to break the evil blockade. They are better than all of us.

“Like Trump’s current peace plan for Gaza, the Abraham Accords were negotiated directly with Israel and autocratic Arab regimes – and they excluded Palestinians from any discussion of their future or aspirations. These are deals conceived by real estate tycoons” — my latest for @theguardian.com

It is awfully convenient that I have never even once read an essay or memorandum written from the perspective of a specifically Anglo-liberal sort of internationalist framework that argues against Israeli regional hegemony on liberal grounds. You have to invariably look to the 3rd World for that.
diplomatofnight.com
More or less every liberal argument in favor of American hegemony either pretends MENA is an area of exemption from international norms or, more perversely, Israel is actually an embodiment of international norms. Either way the only conclusion to take is that Arabs are not included in liberalism.

Did he deviate from this posture in the subsequent 15 months of his presidency? Did he ever suggest American global leadership (the subject of the post you were dunking on) did *not* involve near-unconditional support for a genocidal regime? I don’t think he did.
