Ordered a dish of fruit de la mer and disappointed not to find a single current in it

Oh that's very good.

There's a blurb quote about Tolkein which runs something like "how did one man become the creative equivalent of a people", and that thought applies equally, if not more so, to Greg Stafford.

A very nice appreciation of Chaosium founder Greg Stafford, who passed away 7 years ago this month, but whose influence rates him as "one of the best modern fantasists, worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Moorcock, Leiber, McCaffrey, Martin, and others." open.substack.com/pub/someanci...

I feel bad complaining about it because, obviously, it's a whole lot worse for US publishers to have to deal with, but it's still frustrating to have a whole catalogue of really innovative sounding games I can't get my hands on
mattthr.bsky.social
The fact that shipping from the US to the UK is currently troublesome for many companies is yet another, relatively minor, horror from the current US administration that they've inflicted on a world that never had the chance to vote for them 😡

The great dream of AI seems to be that you can create a bubble around yourself where everything - literally everything - exists solely to service your wants and needs and ask nothing in return but money and thats a fascinating insight into the minds of the techbro billionaire class right there.

We can never properly reverse brexit, because we'll never get a deal like the one we had with an extra rebate and the choice to keep the £.

I still want to be back in the EU, but there is no escaping the stupidity of what we lost and will never have again.

Just had to buy a new pair of winter boots and it's a real sign of how the economy is going that rather than looking forward to some nice new boots, I'm instead full of resentful fury at the need to buy such an item and the company that sold it to me.

There's something inherently funny about going to a relatively genteel place like an auctioneers and finding a lot that says "Warhammer Artist Proof Ork Meganob with Shoota"

This is the copy of the WFRP 4th edition rulebook that I used while writing the Enemy Within Director's Cut. I put a notarized statement to that effect in the front, vaguely intending to auction it for charity.
Since I was laid off, I now need the money for rent and food.
Would anyone bid on this?

Blue Lights is absolutely the best thing on the BBC bar nothing. Three seasons in and it's still so good, building moments of relentless tension out of nothing, top acting, edgy setting.

IT'S HERE!!🚗💨

Well... our prototypes at least. We couldn’t be more excited! Our engines are revving, our dice are ready, and we can’t wait to share what’s under the hood.

Who want's to see what's inside?!

This is an interesting thread but to buy the premise one must actively ignore the minor issue of which films are engaging to watch and which are not.

Welcome to tonight’s episode of Andy Thinks About Something Too Much (note: needs a better title)

In this episode we’re going to talk about the Alien franchise and why only the first four movies work.

And yes, I do mean four.

As a general rule I reckon branded food is a waste of time but there are two exceptions: Bonne maman Jam and Heinz Burger Sauce
👌💋

Now that just makes you sound like a foreigner ;)

It seems clearly ideological rather than political to me. The Labour chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, who directs political strategy seems to have a real hard-on for "traditional working class values", i.e. bigotry.

Thankful I live in a Con/Lib marginal, so I don't have to care who I vote for

One of the chief problems with this government is quietly hiding all of the meagre actual achievements, and crowing loudly about all the absolutely ridiculous, ineffectual and/or vindictive shit they want to do.

What's something that isn't considered embarrassing but you think it should be?

Mustard is the one thing, the singular thing, that America has got right in terms of food. But you don't need French's, any old supermarket brand will do.

The real game-changer for burgers, IMO, is Heinz Burger Sauce. And Heinz *is* better than own brand in that instance.
