I mean many so called conservative values are just human values, and they seem to think they belong to the right. Whereas the right is generally about values that are essentially people hating.

It’s best not to dwell on these things as I don’t want to exclude them from my life. But when I think of how often they haven’t allowed me to finish what I’m saying before laughing at me, or got annoyed because I didn’t just meekly agree or denigrated my interests…

I really understand why conservatives think they have a monopoly on working hard, respecting rules, being polite etc anyway. Most people I know realise there are ways of life that make things better for all - and plenty of conservatives who are nothing but destroyers of order!

Yes. I never really saw how it could mean anything other than say, people knowing their place, or one mustn’t be publicly gay, or not being happy with anyone not conforming with your neighbourhood.
