Jimmy’s boy and I talked about how much we missed having the children on our block as we went home– him peddling his bike, and me carrying the wildflowers, trying not to sing the hymn that was stuck in my head out loud.

A Balm To Make The Wounded Whole
Another patch of lemon balm spilled out over the bricks of the road, alive and fragrant as if it was still summer.

Pritzker: "Stephen Miller is clearly ordering people to break the law. So he should know that yeah, it may be three years from now that he is held accountable, but I think it's important for them to know that whatever they do now, it's not like we're going to forget."
We stan the woke Leo
Ironic for Leonard Leo if his beloved Opus Dei is neutered by another Leo.
I would love to go to your Normal Group!
I was told growing up, "Gay people must not be allowed to adopt children because they don't want them for good reasons, they want them as a trophy to show off." And here we are.
It is kind of ironic that the people who have no respect for consent & actually believe in *outbreeding* other groups consistently call queer sex obscenity & sin.

Takes one to mislabeled one, I guess.

Probably worth noting that both Vance and Trump have been “joking” about murdering fishermen in these strikes.
The U.S. military has destroyed five boats it has alleged were ferrying drugs into the U.S., killing 27 people. No authority has publicly released the names of any of the dead. One family is believed to be the first to publicly say they believe a relative is among those who were killed.
U.S. Military Killed Venezuelan Fisherman in Suspected Drug Boat Attack, Family Says
For the first time, one of the 27 people killed in U.S. airstrikes on suspected drug vessels has been publicly identified.

Like I said before, it depends on so many things. How fast he deteriorates. How angry the suburban Karens get. Whether the military turns against him. Whether we get a Mamdini-like charismatic opposition leader. Whether aliens land. We just don't know. But it's REALLY scary and risky regardless.
(For me personally, I'm watching the aftermath of people discovering a local religious cult leader was an abuser, yes like that. All those people are still very much in the cult mentality. But, it's a step in the right direction.)
I agree it's not JUST a cult figurehead. But that will be one jenga piece gone, when it's gone. That's a good thing.
Jimmy successfully test drove my car round the block today. He's still got to tighten or replace the doughnut thing so the exhaust isn't super loud. He's got to replace a couple sensors tomorrow. But this nutty ordeal is FINALLY ending and I'll go for a drive by the end of the weekend!
I am very, very much in favor of big families. I love them. They are fun. I've always been super disappointed that I couldn't have seven kids like The Sound of Music.
"We can't risk being outbred" is the nastiest reason to have a baby in the world and will inevitably lead to child abuse.
The root of evangelical antiabortionism is "we can't risk being outbred"
I think it's relatively rare for a fascist state to last for several different dictators. Because it's essentially a personality cult. Lose the personality, lose the cult.

That first statistic is arguably true, mostly because the average teenager has about a 50% chance to be born without testicles.
RFK Jr: "Today the average teenager in this country has 50% of the sperm count, 50% of the testosterone of a 65 year old man. Our girls are hitting puberty 6 years early ... our parents aren't having children."
"We're not making enough babies" has always meant "we're not making enough Aryan babies."
Funny how these fucks don't see any incompatibility with the statements "Country's full" and "We're not making enough babies"
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%. Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate -- in other words the amount of fertility you need to keep your population even -- is 2.1%. We are below replacement. That is a national security threat to our country."
I said just that to myself as I walked by.
I think it depends on how fast it happens, how ridiculous and public his deterioration becomes, and how inconvenienced middle class white people who are used to their little treats get.
There's mentally ill and then there's mentally ill. After all, Lincoln had terrible depression and Roosevelt may have as well.
My consolation is that Vance has ZERO charisma. Trump had that goofy Grandiose NPD charm that some people were drawn to. That's how he held the cult together. Vance can't speak, he can't debate, he's a clammy bitter jerk. That will work in our favor.
Today I walked ALL THE WAY down the nature trail from the Civil War cemetery near my house, to the park across town, then through downtown to the bus station. Three or four miles. Next week I'll have the car and go to state parks again!
The map of all the hiking trails at Beatty Park Steubenville. A spooky-looking ruin, which is actually just a shelterhouse without a roof, in Beatty Park, Steubenville. The Episcopal Church in downtown Steubenville, which is the oldest organized parish in the state of Ohio. Steubenville's Carnegie library, built in 1902.
I can HEAR the shale! When my cousins and I were little we used to try to climb down to the crick to catch crawfish, and sometimes the shale would just give way under us and we'd slide down. Breaking shale sounds almost like bells.
I think I hurt my neck looking up a hundred times in my nature walk today.
Bright yellow leaves clinging to a branch, against a blue sky. A tree with bright yellow autumn leaves, next to trees with green leaves against a blue sky looking straight up at fall trees with yellow leaves, with a blue sky behind them The sun filtering through orange leaves in a blue sky
Shale is such a weird and interesting rock.
A great big wall of shale rock, in layer after layer like a stack of newspapers, which I photographed at the park near my house today.
I went for a walk in the park today, and found out that Aslan has risen from the dead.
A stone picnic table, cracked and broken, covered in fall leaves.
Let's have a comic drawing contest.
I don’t know the context to this (and don’t you all dare tell me!) but there are five different ways I can interpret this, and knowing Cuomo they all are probably simultaneously correct.
how did cuomo go from free parking to prostitution
