A belter of an aerial shot of central Glasgow from around 1930. The most prominent feature is the vast glass roof canopy of Glasgow Central, one of the world's largest, featuring 48,000 panes making up 2.2 square miles of glazing

What else can you spot?

Well, tried my best. Think that's one of those 'you either know it or you don't' ones. End of a good run. #unzoomed

Tomorrow about a third of Perseverance rover staff will be laid off, despite the mission being the penultimate step in a decades long effort to bring samples back from mars.

Reckless, needless budget cuts intended to hinder the pursuit of knowledge.

Let this be the inspiration for cities everywhere.

Although this sounds like it'll apply to work visas at first, I'm sure this will creep into every other category.

I'm thinking of younger people, moving abroad for the first time, maybe with A2 or B1 under their belt (not a given) but with a determination to improve once there. This kills that off.

Whether "A-level" or as some people in the know seem to be saying will be B2 in practice, this is an extreme jump in language level expectation from B1.

If applied everywhere reciprocally, it'd kill off the type of try-it-and-see move abroad that many British people have come to expect as possible.

🦊 Blurry, night time shot of the fox that's been settling down in our tenement back court at the same time every night, like clockwork, for the last 3 months.

We think she's a mum catching a quick nap - usually disturbed an hour later by two younger foxes before they all disappear off together.

Yeah, I've gone really big on The Black Crowes again lately. Can't stop listening.

The Lost Crowes CD set from 2006 of two totally unreleased albums (with some stuff that ended up on Amorica & Three Snakes And One Charm), is stunning. Especially this.

A fabulous picture postcard of Glasgow Cross at the junction of the Trongate and High Street. The picture is certainly pre-1896 as there's no sign of Glasgow Cross station yet. The works to the left of the picture are the cut and cover tunnel being dug for the railway line.

Got it in 2 as a pure guess with a bit of deduction ('Law of the Indies' style grid, a port city that seems to like cricket)

"The single most important behaviour, design or regulation for creating streets conducive to walking and cycling, was physical separation between the modes"

We've got a new study out, learning from a broad mixture of street users, planners and designers

www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
Highlights
For marginalised street users mode separation is the key to human-scale movement.
Streets conducive to walking and cycling have functional, safe and accessible design.
Professionals must approach street design, regulation and user behaviour holistically.
Combinations of influencing factors persuade people to either use or avoid a street.
There are no easy fixes to the public realm that will work for all non-drivers.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
South Queensferry residents already suffer from the effects of excessive traffic with actual and perceived risk
to life, excessive noise, pollution and negative health impacts of increasing levels of inactivity, especially
amongst younger generations. With over 1600 properties built or planned to be built in just a few years within
the town, Edinburgh Council must act now to make active travel a more attractive option for people to choose
to travel to, from and around South Queensferry.
Spokes broadly welcome these proposals as we believe this could potentially be the start of what is required to
provide adults and children with the opportunity for active travel which for most does not currently exist.
There is an opportunity for a wider active travel network throughout South Queensferry and these proposals as
the currently stand exclude other areas of South Queensferry, for example other schools around the town. All
children and adults should have the right to exercise for free and to travel actively safely and we would urge
the Council, the Scottish Government and other funding partners to take a proactive approach to planning this
(and other) active travel networks, not just individual routes that are not joined up one of the main proposals maps in the consultation, showing the active travel route beside and crossing a road
