I feel like probably there is at least one neighbor shouting, "OH WHAT A BYOOTYFUL NEIGHBOR OH ANOTHER SO GOOD" alone in the privacy of their car when they pass one of these dogs on the way to the library.

I mean, obviously *I* know nothing about that, it's just a theory.

I have had bad Hy-Vee bagels, and I validate your grudge.

A DUBIOUS CLAMOR would smell like a pastry shop with freshly cleaned steel underneath. I kind of doubt that the book perfumers would be up to it, it's just as well this is just a fun thought experiment.

THE JAGUAR MASK would smell like copal incense. NIGHT ROLL would smell like bike grease.

This is fun

What would *your* book smell like if you engaged in a mega weirdo scented pages promotional campaign?

Spin/rotation is a major thing I deal with. "Uh oh this story is wobbly here." Also though sometimes it needs the wobbly moments to get to a new orbit it's going to land in. Throwing off electrons like mad.

...you can take the girl out of the lab, but you can't take the lab out of the girl. Again.

I'm Swedish, I enjoy being depressed by art.

We can pretend that was a joke if it's more comfortable that way.

I'd be interested to hear whether this @clarkesworldmagazine.com story by @gregegansf.bsky.social was engaging for someone who didn't do math contests and Academic Decathlon in high school, but that is me to the core so I liked it a lot: clarkesworldmagazine.com/egan_10_25/

I have no idea how one becomes involved with one--my role is just as a customer--but I'd look for "farmer's markets [your region here]" as there are sometimes comprehensive lists. Example: bringmethenews.com/minnesota-li...

I loved every word of this sweet story, and I wish I could have had such elder women in my life. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Back from my family trip to tell you that I have a new story in @kaleidotrope.bsky.social ! "What a Big Heart You Have" is my tender tribute to Grandma and Aunt Ellen, though the characters aren't literally them. kaleidotrope.net/autumn-2025/...

Last farmer's market haul of the season: strawberries, raspberries, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, poblano, Thai eggplants, cauliflower x2, broccoli, tomatillos x bushel, blackberry barbecue sauce, flash-frozen sockeye fillets and wee salmon belly bits.

This is a sweet hug of a fairy tale retelling. Marissa is so good at tapping into the heart of stories.
