Did a joke AMA last week, but now it’s time for a real one. I’m Steve Lieber and I’ve been drawing comic books professionally since 1992. I’m on this flight for the next 5 hours. Ask Me Anything.

oh dude it looks sooooooo good. I'm thinking about rewatching because I watched it right after Throwdown, which is a top 5 movie for me.

haha well that was your mistake wasn't it :3

I loved Mousse when I was little! But I loved everyone to different degrees.

double secret mens room?!

The all gender bathroom really eased up the burden on the womens room, but I'm very sorry for all the men who were frightened away from the urinals by the women waiting for the stalls.

oh I'm an idiot I should've mentioned Kurosawa films also. Johnnie To says he was a big influence on him. And you can't ever forget the incredible master Seijun Suzuki.

Johnnie To movie. It's great shots! I just find the story way more boring than Throwdown.

You might also consider some slapstick that can illustrate great use of framing like

Playtime
Safety Last
Yoyo

Sammo Hung's work is always top notch: since it uses fighting as the set up for lunch lines. Meals on Wheels, Encounters of the Spooky Kind and Mr Vampire are all really cool.

Throw Down has some of the best story telling fight scenes I've seen in ages.

PTU looks awesome but story wise is okay.

Comics/games/animation friends!

What’s a good resource or film/show/comic etc with great action shots I can check out for inspiration?

(Currently looking at shots from Last Airbender and Spiderverse movies) #storyboards #layouts

I put up a "buy me a coffee"-page at buymeacoffee.com/maxdraws. For 2 euros a month, you get to see old Giant Day pages and for 5 euros you also get to see two sketch pages of my new comic every month! I am new to this sort of thing, so I am starting small and taking suggestions for improvement.

A client promised about 180~ pages to drop by the end of this month. So far they have only dropped 31....So I'm looking for some stopgap work from today until the end of the year. If anyone needs a colorist, lmk!

In honor of spooky month, share a 4 word horror story that only someone in your profession would understand

I'll go first: Six page commercial lease.

Someone at WFMU must go to NYCC every year. Because the following Monday someone always plays Terry Jacks - Rock N' Roll (I Gave You the Best Years of My Life).
marissadraws.bsky.social
Good luck! I will swing by BCC if I have cash and time. I hope you have great success and aren't too exhausted!

It's an overwhelming but great show. It's impossible to come away with out improving your art or business. So it's always, always worth it to go.

One of the biggest things I learned is I really need to put effort into my social media strategy again. And that I'm not reaching my audience on Bluesky.

As fun as you all are, my 5am-8am EST posting is mostly for me, so it's not really constructive.

Happy Post- NYCC everyone!

I had a great time. I learned a lot.

Nice to see you and @ohnola.bsky.social 🥰 I'm sorry it was brief as usual but an effort was made :D

Increasingly desperate bullshitting!
