To the Woman that I Love:

I am happy - and grateful - that you have chosen a man who is as kind and joyful as Woorim is.

I pray that the two of you will always be happy, together and forever.

The White House hasn’t looked this bad since the War of 1812.
At Gettysburg today, there is a monument to the 151st Pennsylvania, near the site where they made their famous stand on July 1st.

There is also a plaque dedicated to the Regiment at the Pennsylvania Memorial.

Aloha 🇺🇸🙏🏼

After the battle, General Abner Douleday, interim commander of the I Corps, had this to say about the regiment:

“At Gettysburg, they won, under the brave M’Farland, an imperishable fame.”

4\
For this, the regiment paid a heavy price.

By the end of the three day battle, the 151st had lost 367 out of 478 officers and men, a 75 percent casualty rate.

On the afternoon of July 1st, 1863, the 151st found itself defending the shattered remnants of the Union Army of the Potomac’s I Corps as it pulled back to new defenses south and southeast of the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

“Is any security tight enough?”

But what happened today in California could have easily happened in any other State in the United States.

This is no longer a “blue state” or a “red state” issue.

It is an American issue.

6\
They continue to gamble on the ignorance of the American people.

They continue to gamble on their skepticism and their cynicism, particularly for those in state and local political office.

They continue to gamble on division.

5\
The Trump Administration will do what it seems to do best whenever it is in a bind:

Blame others and then move on.

4/
But sadly, that is changing today.

Today’s news from Southern California only underscores that.

But it also underscores one other thing:

Sheer Incompetence.

3\
Most Americans do not live in these communities.

They hardly see an American soldier on their streets. They have never seriously had to think about the impact of the U.S. military, or of militarization, on their own lives.

I grew up on a Pacific island surrounded by U.S. military bases.

I currently live on another Pacific island filled with U.S. military bases.
