Here’s a fact about me that I now understand is probably pretty unusual. As a young adult, in the late eighties and early nineties, when I would travel “back home” to see my parents in eastern KY, I would *regularly* stop by a bootlegger because that’s how you got alcohol there.

I saw a tragically AI-generated version of this poster, so I have recreated a 100% human-made version for all your protest sign needs.
I would have such a hard goddamn time keepin’ my mouth shut in that FB group…

It's a cake from Haydel's Bakery in New Orleans. It's their almond wedding cake with one layer filled with strawberry jam and the second layer with crushed pineapple.

So I got a cake server, like that wedge-shaped piece of serveware for lifting the triangle of cake/pie out after you've cut it. I've *never* had one, I've been using it on this alligator cake, and it really makes my brain happy.

Poor buddy, and poor you, mama. Thanks for taking care of that sweet boi.
In 2005, I was sitting in the back of an MH-60S helicopter flying over southern Louisiana. I'd just returned from doing a combat load study for six months combined in Iraq and Afghanistan and I remember thinking (and saying out loud), at least I SORTA knew what I was getting into there.
Neat Fly Navy story: Had friends over tonight for jambalaya and alligator cake. Played some Squirrel Nut Zippers, drank some champagne. Then it came up that the last time any of us had been to Louisiana was on a ‘05 DET to help out after Katrina, and in fact all of us were there together.
