Some of the beauty of the East Side. From when I last went a few months ago. A beautiful community w/ history & culture. ✨
The front of the colibrí coffee shop in the east side Art depicting La virgen de Guadalupe at a grocery store. Lake Michigan and concrete next to the shore. Piles of limes, avocados, and tomatoes at the grocery store. There is also a sign for their price. In the back is a fridge with soft drinks.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

Sounds like at least a delicious problem to have. I am making a mental note of where to eat out this week. 🍲

105/N. Feds rammed a car that crashed into another, then a foot chase. Neighbors protested. Gas deployed by feds earlier today. Here's what they left behind. A thread of photos. #chicago

ICE is recklessly throwing tear gas into our neighborhoods and busy streets, including near children at school and CPD officers.

The Trump Administration must stop their deployment of dangerous chemical weapons into the air of peaceful American communities.

There has always been a violence against immigrants that the Chicago Latine and larger immigrant community has experienced. But the intensity of it rn is beyond what we’ve seen before. And it’s coupled with a keen sense that it’s also a concerted attack on Chicago as a city and a city of immigrants.

Greg Bovino, Kristi Noem, and DHS need to answer for their unchecked attacks on Chicago residents.

ICE is an out-of-control danger to our peaceful communities.

The images from the Sun-Times today speak for themselves.

The @chicago.suntimes.com photographer who risked their personal health and safety to take this photograph is Anthony Vazquez. Please credit photographers and media outlets. In this age of misinformation, a photo with no context could be anything at all.
