"So we're going to ban birth control and limit women's health care!!! Pro-life yeahhhhh"
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%. Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate -- in other words the amount of fertility you need to keep your population even -- is 2.1%. We are below replacement. That is a national security threat to our country."

Wow. Sidney Reid, the DC woman just found not guilty of assaulting an FBI agent, issues a withering and gutsy statement on Trump through her attorneys.

"I feel sorry for the prosecutors really, who must be burdened by Trump's irrational and unfounded hatred for his fellow man."

It's a must-read:

"Mamdani is adept on camera," writes our Nick Reisman. He "has done well on substance, especially on issues like mass transit and housing — capturing his affordability concerns. But he sounds good too."

Mamdani is winning the debate so far
Calm, cool and collected is what the front-runner needs to be.

What do you call a group of dictators? Is it like crows, a murder? A cohort? A lamentation of dictators?
Trump on Putin: "We're gonna be meeting in Hungary. Viktor Orban is gonna be hosting."
Republicans do not want the government shutdown to end. Period.
Q: Do you think we can see your deal-making skills apply to the govt shutdown anytime soon?

TRUMP: Well, look, I mean, all we want to do is just extend
Why are we trusting anyone who seriously uses the word 'under-babied'?
Dr Oz: "Turns out that about 1/3 families don't have the number of babies they desire. They're under-babied. So this president committed to address that during the campaign and he's delivering on that today."
I'll give him unbelievable, I guess.
Trump: "The economy is unbelievable ... prices are down"
Just objectively not true.
Trump: "The price of things are down"
Yeah Dave? How about evil, satanic, or any of the other number of things the right calls the left? Those words are a criticism of personhood. Fascism, Nazism is a criticism of personal politics.
Dave McCormick: "I do think some of this horrible language on the extreme left -- 'fascism, Nazism, authoritarianism' -- I think that's a recipe, an introduction and encouragement to violence. It's gotta stop."
Messaging in the GOP is officially in alignment. I've seen this statement from maybe 5 different Republicans this morning.
Daines on No Kings: "This is a 'We Hate America' rally"

So if I read the article correctly, there are multiple cited examples of cities where it has worked or some version of it has worked, and one cited example of it not working that they focus on for half the article?

Mamdani: "I just want to speak directly to the president. I will not be a mayor like Mayor Adams who will call you to stay out of jail. I won't be a disgraced governor like Andrew Cuomo who will call you to ask how to win this election. I can do those things on my own."

Bari Weiss launched her own path to stardom with the argument "it is oppression to dislike me for being bad" and now we will get to see what an entire media ecosystem built with that philosophy looks like
This made me giggle far too loud in a public place.....not good news exactly, but still.

SCOTUS has been focused on chipping away at civil rights laws and policies for 20 years.

Today, the justices will hear oral arguments in a case that could represent not just another chip, but a fatal blow to the load-bearing pillar of American multi-racial democracy: The 1965 Voting Rights Act.
Voting Rights Are on the Supreme Court’s Chopping Block
Tuesday's case pits fanciful claims of racial harmony against the reality of ongoing discrimination.

Ok, so I'm hearing Trump bragging about not getting shot at a memorial for a dude who got shot, right?
Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."
It's infuriating and so sad.
If you read "Blessed are those persecuted for righteousness sake," and are defending those shooting priests and peaceful protesters with pepper balls, well, then I guess you're Mike Johnson.
Q: We've seen images out of Chicago of federal agents shooting faith leaders with pepper balls and arresting journalists. Where's the limit for you on what's acceptable conduct by federal agents?

MIKE JOHNSON: I've not seen them cross the line yet.
Fucking bread and circuses, but we can't afford bread and the circuses are shitty, weird reboots.

This is an intentional framing choice that can easily be avoided if one wants to avoid it!
really do genuinely feel that our local press needs to find a better word than clash for interactions between federal agents armed to the teeth with chemical munitions and actual guns and some neighbors who are yelling and maybe throwing found objects. not even delving into protests facing the same.
