Quick introductory post: I teach English as a Second and Third language and Ethics to high schoolers in Germany. I also support students with Special Educational Needs and am a passionate advocate for accommodations for those who need them. I've been teaching for >20 years and still love it. #edusky

My lovely student wants to bring scones for the whole class! The school kitchen is currently being renovated, otherwise I would book in to have a bake off (a 90 minute double period is perfect for scones). I'm going to see if I can source some clotted cream - Kaufland sometimes has it...

I was discussing this with a student the other day (she has had numerous English teachers over the years). She agreed with me on the pronunciation but is a cream-first girl. (I'm only cream-first IF it's proper clotted cream)

Our entire town calls the woman who taught GENERATIONS of kids to swim "Aunty Ruth." She is white but our town has a large Indigenous population and it is respectful to call Elders Aunty and Uncle. When I arranged for Elders to give Welcome to Country at school events it was usually an Aunty.

Oh man 🙄 so many issues. Did it have to be dealt with by end of day (as in, someone was in danger if they left the school not knowing)? Did they know about it at the start of the day? I imagine it is something that has been brewing for ages and they decided to deal with it ad-hoc, last minute.

A freshly baked apple and buckwheat cake. It's still in the pan and the skewer that (happily) came out clean is next to the pan.

I think the linguistic import has been assimilated. My Mum refuses to say cupcakes or frosting in favour of patty cakes and icing (which to me are a smaller, more modest treat) and I don't think the word "cookie" has crossed her lips out of the context of Sesame Street.

My Babcia used to send us those beautiful picture ones. I still think the chocolate ones are sinfully decadent 🤣

A friend sent me a picture of a salami advent calendar. I wouldn't mind that, or one of the jam ones, but I usually just get myself one of the tea ones.

Wait, this was not automatic! The pump beeped, (slightly) waking A. It prompted her to put it in manual mode, which she did. C heard her moving around and went to check. She argued with him about manual mode (making me wonder if she was actually awake). Pump changed the time. C reset auto mode.

I got up in the wee hours to check - the pod switched to manual mode, made the time change, and changed back to auto mode. The phone the Dexcom app is on updated automatically (but had restarted and unpaired in the meantime, so more time needed talking with tech support!!!).

#T1D peeps - Omnipod 5 and Dexcom G7 will automatically update to winter time, right? Libre 3 always did so I assume the new tech will as well...?
