so hello!
I’m an Ys lore nerd who only has Adol Christin on the brain (he’s all that fits inside💔)
I also run a dumbass youtube channel for the rare ys shitpost

i try to post a photo of adol here every day too!
Ys consumes my life

there’s a whole ass wikipedia article how have i never heard this term before
it’s almost 3am for me and i find this so funny
adol is a herbivore man

i was looking at the site translated and saw this and was like ‘herbivorous man?????’ never heard that before

so i looked up the kanji

Although Adle Christine is a "herbivorous man" in modern times, it is wonderful that he has the three beats of "handsome", "sincere" and "hard worker". The main character of the RPG should be! Long live the orthodox protagonist! Herbivore men is a term used in Japan to describe young men who become voluntarily celibate and express little interest in getting married or being assertive in pursuing relationships with women. i cannot guarantee how good this’ll turn out if you translate this website using like. that feature

but here’s the link to dogi radio, this is the first ‘episode’ if you wanna call it that, on the right side there’s a list of the other ones you can click on and read too

hell ys’ portal site used to have constant events and fans could send in letters and there was this whole thing of dogi hosting a radio show interviewing characters
the 2000s for ys was adorable and we actually got content it’s crazy….

also ys doesn’t even get much official art anymore and i’m forever mad about it, there used to be so much art of the characters hanging out circa ys 7 and older, they just don’t do that anymore

it’s kinda wild LOL especially with 8’s success you’d think we’d get more stuff like these:

fair LOL
i think people stay very Inside their one community—which is totally valid lol, we all do it. but when you look outside it or switch over suddenly it’s like. Whoa. Shift of perspective.
limetimebaby.bsky.social
i was but i didn’t hang out in the community much, i basically met weylin and frog and then closed myself off to be private and just spoke to them LOL

oh nooo my 38 year old series, it will never survive the winter like trails can
limetimebaby.bsky.social
same honestly, it’s made me debate continuing a bit whenever i see them LOL (though i do know the characters already so it’s like ‘oh i remember you’)
but parts of the fanbase just triggers my attitude of ‘keep telling me to play it because it’s better than what i love and i’ll never touch it again’
limetimebaby.bsky.social
hell yeah
full circle !!!!!
and it works out perfectly with the timeline too LOL
limetimebaby.bsky.social
i’m… kinda the same way 😅 i try not to let fanbases influence my enjoyment of a game, but yknow if they constantly compare and rip apart something i love, it will eventually wear me down

the people on here have been very kind and open compared to other trails communities at least, so that’s nice 🙂‍↕️

i kinda hope not in some ways, but it would be interesting to see how they do things with 5 in general, especially the ending (though other things too, lots of potential for mechanics)
limetimebaby.bsky.social
it ain’t even a ‘bad ending’ really, its just the normal ending, rather than the true ending iirc

but it’s bad. bad ending. evil. stop that
limetimebaby.bsky.social
people out here replaying a 100 hour trails game 5 times and they can’t make time for a 10 hour game 💔💔💔 i see how it is 😔
limetimebaby.bsky.social
hope you feel better soon 😭

here, take this
small comfort adol to put on your desk or bedside table. about 1 inch tall. he may scurry about, this is normal. you may feed him crumbs off your sandwiches, but he is small and needs nutrients too. keep away from baths and sinks unless supervised. red hair is all natural, no artificial dyes.
limetimebaby.bsky.social
the same goes for stories. you can spend 80 hours building up a plot, a masterpiece. but i’ll still play a 6 hour game and cry at the end.

you cannot say ys has no substance because some games are shorter, or because you failed to interact. a book has no substance if you never bothered to open it
limetimebaby.bsky.social
you can write 1000 words, but in some cases 100 words can be more meaningful.

you could tell someone your heart races when you see them and you can’t live without them, the sky seems clearer and the moon and stars brighter

but sometimes ‘i love you’ works just fine, sometimes it’s more effective
limetimebaby.bsky.social
nah it’s fine, i’m a grumpy old woman lmfaooo
limetimebaby.bsky.social
yeah, that bothers me too
that and the treatment of it as some kind of ‘break’ series where you don’t actually care for it, you’re JUST playing it between the wait for trails

imo if you can’t think critically on a game’s story Solely due to length, you have no right to talk on any story, ever
limetimebaby.bsky.social
i think there’s a lot that trails fans can get out of ys
people like to paint the two series as some dichotomy where one is for story and the other for gameplay, but that’s simply not true

ys has so much charm and love put into it, it’s world is just as living as any other falcom game
limetimebaby.bsky.social
ys is like a stable series to come home to in a way, at least to me

even when everything is changing, it’s held it’s ground and it’s still here, adol’s still around after all this time

so for every finale… or yes, every series falcom has left behind… ys is there to bring comfort when it’s all over
limetimebaby.bsky.social
in fact, we know the end. we’ve known the end since the first game, it’s the middle they’re filling out and exploring

so if you love falcom’s games, if you want to continue playing them, ys will likely always be there even when other series have their finale or (on an even sadder note) die off
