It's not in this article but the government asserts that the sandwich was thrown at "point blank range", which implies subway sandwiches have defined effective weapon ranges of varying lethality, and I would like to see the government's chart of these ranges.

This is presumably why this particular tactic necessitated 'point blank' range, medium distance would potentially cause AOE sandwich shrapnel damage (as you describe), and distance sniping with sandwichkind would be a true feat of marksmanship.

I mean, stuff the tuna melt between ciabatta rolls for insulation and you do have potential molten cheese burn damage (for point-blank splatter). But flying oily steak bits do have better explosive shrapnel potential (better ranged). The choice of sandwich (weaponised) is crucial here.

I'm not gonna lie though... it was SO MUCH FUN! Jumping between various fandoms kept things new and exciting, and the prompts were fabulous even though I was slow. Honestly, I was just getting started on my Day 4 when the end of the month arrived, but I'm kinda tempted to continue??

It was also the final session of our D&D group's "Spooky Door" campaign that we ran during October, so @feyriebunny.bsky.social also made us this charming Ouija board for our final in-person session. Is it not DELIGHTFUL! 💀💕🍊🦷

A charming Ouija board with capering skeletons and a celestial planchette. There is a pearl-bedecked pumpkin at the top of the board. Elegant in black with off-white writing.

Detail of the full board. It has all the classic Yes/No, alphabet, numbers and Goodbye. But it is also emblazoned at the bottom with "Death R*@!?$ Here", as no-one would give our curious characters a straight answer as to which version of Rains/Reigns/Reins they meant.

Visited pals over Halloween weekend, and had ourselves a bit of a party. Here's the costume of my Fallout 4 character I crafted, and a fun charcuterie board @feyriebunny.bsky.social put together for us.

Me in my Halloween costume - Vault 101 jumpsuit, Doc Martens, leather Tunnel Snakes jacket, and aviator sunglasses, weilding a Jet inhaler and a pack of Radaway. My pal also painted on a fine goatee, sideburns and freckles so I could BE my Fallout 4 character.

Me just in Vault jumpsuit mode with a roll of New California Republic dollars, Med-X, hair comb and three Jet capsules in my zip pockets (I also have a bag of bottlecaps for those who haven't trekked across from the west coast).

Details of the back of my Tunnel Snakes jacket. I modded on the patch and studs myself - yay craft time!

A fabby skeleton charcuterie board, put together by my friend for Halloween nibbles. a plastic skeleton draped in meats and fruit, surrounded by cheese. It was superemly tasty!

As so many of my fave modern media - The Locked Tomb, Undertale, Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss - are all strangely Homestuck-tangential (via their crators), I feel I should try and do a full read-through now too (only got as far as Beforus last time as updates were slow for a bit & life got in the way).

Also, I'm pretty sure that huge swathes of it have gotten re-writes/new art when Flash went under and all the mini-games/animation had to presumably be re-assessed. It actually reads a bit more logically now (without quite so many random tangents), but I also feel some dialogue & in-jokes were lost.

So, I decided to do a re-read of Homestuck - partly as fic inspo, & partly because it's been... uh... 13 years since I marathoned it whilst writing my thesis *feels real old now*. It's some serious comfort media but fuck me, I forgot the trauma of the honkening. Halloween-appropriate horror indeed!🎃

Parents, please check your kids’ candy this Halloween. I’ve just found an ancient metal whistle with the inscription “QUIS EST ISTE QUI VENIT" inside a Snickers bar. I blew it and heard a note of infinite distance, and now I’m haunted by a figure in pale, fluttering draperies. Be safe.
