Simeon Brown needs to go back to high school. There will always be a few high flyers who disproportionately push an average upwards.

What he needs is the MEDIAN salary. Like house prices, y'know?- something I assume he is familiar with.

“The room erupted in laughter when he said he had been advised by Health NZ that the average salary for a senior doctor was $325,000”

Is it even possible for them to make the country hate their guts more #nzpol

📢 There were audible cries of disbelief when he said the action — while their legal right — had "crossed an ethical line".

That is quite bonkers in the most lovely way. 😍

See also: the time I used hubby's phone to shop for a specific crosstitch kit, and the poor man was plagued with ads for womanly crafts for MONTHS. 🤣🧶🪡

I love the understated note in the BAUS page that this instrument 'should be used with rubber covers or sheaths.' Imagine *uncovered* umbrella vanes being opened in a urethra 😖

Sad thought that apiaries can die over winter 😥. But glad there's a ready replacement.

What will you do with a captured swarm? Do you ever run out of room for more bees, or is there a natural turnover that evens out over time?
liangrhea.bsky.social
Partly, amongst a number of contributing factors. Screening is a thankless task and it's hard to attract and retain radiologists when there are so many other exciting developments in radiology.

It certainly did, but luckily I got another oncologist who was the opposite! She was caring and open to questions and was horrified by what I’d been told. Normally I do whatever the Dr says. I’m so glad there are doctors like you out there looking after us! 🫂

I reckon the sooner we jettison binary gender norms the better. They seem narrower than ever. Girls get teased for being 'trans' when they're no more tomboyish than I was at the same age. Ridiculous but predictable outcome of terfy gender policing.

Very reasonable! Especially if you buy enough to get free shipping as well (seldom a problem for me 😅)

Ooh! Tell me more about stopping the mills? This sounds intriguing.

Gosh, it seems like a million years ago. We used to stop the mills when we communicated from Melbourne to Sydney, and I still have some lovely yarn left over the years. Maybe I should use it for another scarf…

Not to mention the endless teasing that a boy with that historical spelling would get nowadays 🤣.

I'm loving 'Our story: Aboriginal Chinese people in Australia'.

Intermittently raging at the racism that afflicted both cultures and drove them into shared exclusion... but gosh I'm glad Anglicisation conventions have changed. 🤣

(Nowadays this would be Kam Wei or Gum Ngai)
The cover of the book, featuring an Aboriginal red, black and yellow twined mat, decorated with a Chinese hanging charm typically used at Chinese New Year with the character for 'fortune'. Screenshot of a page documenting Aboriginal Chinese families in the Wide Bay and Burnett region, including a man named Cum Way.

I challenge anyone to find better service than the Wangaratta Woollen Mills. Speedy, accurate- and they even matched my dye batch number from 3 years ago!

When I hear transphobic arguments against helping children with gender dysphoria (eg some kids regret transitioning), I am left wondering why trans gender-affirming care is the only medical therapy held to a standard of 100% success rate. My job is infinitely simpler, and we don’t get close to 100%.

Fantastic 'rabbithole' alert. I had no idea that Mister Global was even a thing! One for national culture and costume/cosplay lovers.

Mr Laos. Just when you though this year was a bit quiet on the insanely huge, bedazzled, symbolic costumes along comes Mr Laos and blows everyone else out of the water. This is insane, but it's also *so* good.

Highly recommend the Centre Stage experience at QLD Ballet. Participants take part in a repertoire class, meet creatives for backstage goss/props/costumes, watch the show, and can stay for Q+A afterwards. And also well done QLD Ballet for the sign language interpreter 👏🙏♥️ #inclusion
Dodgy selfie with the top half of Rhea's face in the Li Cunxin studio at QLD Ballet's Talbot Centre. There is a horizontal barre in the background running across a wall of floor to ceiling windows framing a view of south Brisbane. An elaborately embroidered and sequined sleeve with gold thread and blue sequins on a dark red velvet, set against the lining of the jacket which is a lighter brocaded red silk. Four of the Dangerous Liaisons performers on chairs on stage, in front of the production set. On the left of the performers is the Q+A facilitator, and on the right a sign language interpreter.
