H.R. 9495, the Stop Terror-Financing and Tax Penalties on American Hostages Act authorizes broad and easily abused new powers for the executive branch. It grants the Secretary of the Treasury virtually unfettered discretion to designate any U.S. nonprofit as a “terrorist supporting organization”.

Blaming trans people for imagined threats in bathrooms is bigotry, not advocacy. Using personal trauma as a shield to demonize an already marginalized group weaponizes pain against the innocent. Protecting women means addressing real dangers, not scapegoating trans folks.

I'm still turning this in my mind—there are lines drawing confusion among progressives between—
•Trump2.0 doesn't care in principle about rule of law (true)
•laws don't matter to explain Trump2.0's behavior or freedom-of-action (false)
•settled law is sufficient to constrain Trump et al. (sometimes)

Never made calls before? Don’t fear, it’s easy. Typically, U just talk to a staffer who records your point. Keep it short & respectful. It helps the reps negotiate & substantiate with colleagues and the press.

Make the calls & ask 3 friends to do so too!

The House ethics committee doesn't need to "leak" the Gaetz report. Nothing is stopping any member of that committee from invoking parliamentary privilege to read the full report into the Congressional Record.

After scrolling Bluesky and seeing lots of wit and snark and fear and complaints, this is the only action item I’ve seen. Even if it’s just data mining, I want to do SOMETHING so badly (and I’m already on that Common Cause list anyway).
