You could read the article?🤷

This is purely for a specific skilled worker visa, but is being reported as though it applies to all migrants.

And the actual story is that the projection still sees inflation FALLING from 3.4% to 2.5%!
lazytitan258.bsky.social
These are projections, we are still projected to have comparatively high growth.
lazytitan258.bsky.social
No, that’s only about 30% of it.

In order to “take the profit motive out of energy” you’d have to nationalise it. Do you think that would be free?

Also, it would still take time.

High prices are due to how the market calculates the cost of energy. And that is spiked by high global gas prices.

We've set up Great British Energy to generate more clean, home-grown electricity here in the UK — and make us less exposed to volatile global energy markets.

What does that mean for you?

Let me explain

What's this?

An actual media story being positive about the real achievements the Labour government are making towards delivering their manifesto.

I know many of you already know this fact, but isn't it good to see someone in the media reporting it?

Thank you @politicsjoe.bsky.social
Labour has already delivered or making progress towards two-thirds of its manifesto pledges
The Labour government has already delivered or is making progress towards around two thirds of its manifesto pledges, after just over a year in power.

Nope, not true at all.

You want them to subsidise energy costs? Where’s the money coming from?

You want them to borrow vast amounts of money? Thanks to the tories we already pay £100bn a year on debt interest!

Articles like this pretend that labour is at the end of its term and has failed. It’s not, it hasn’t even had their 2nd budget yet!

They made 83 main pledges in their manifesto, they’ve fulfilled 18 of these already & progressed 30+ more. That’s pretty good!
lazytitan258.bsky.social
This ignores what Labour are doing, which is planning for the long term by building the infrastructure to ensure that energy bills will never be subject to gas prices and people’s bills will be permanently reduced.

This takes time.

The UK's largest solar farm has today been approved by the government.

Tillbridge Solar Project in Lincolnshire has potential for up to 500MW of energy - equivalent for 300,000 homes.

I believe it's the 13th approval by this government for major solar and wind projects.

Just seen another "Darren Explains" video from the Number 10 Downing Street social media account. If I am not mistaken, so far, one video has been released per week over the past three weeks, each focusing on a different policy. Labour's comms aren't brilliant, but I am noticing improvements.

What is GB Energy?

The Chief Secretary to the PM explains it all in the latest installment of his 'Darren Explains' series.

For this one, they even let him out of the office!

A reminder that as much as we'd like the Labour government to be only looking to the future, there are still many things coming to light from the Tory years which need fixing.

Like this; which ought to have a rare positive thing the Tories did, but still left a mess for Labour to clean up.

Good. This is what should have happened to begin with. Not consulting disabled people on the previous proposed changes was a mistake, and I am glad they are trying to do the right thing this time around.

You seem to be accepting the media spin that is overemphasising a single aspect of a particular visa so that people think they are both racist & not doing anything else on immigration. 🙄

It’s for workers who will earn more than most of the indigenous population.

“A-Level” is a media equivocation, not part of the rules Labour is changing.

This is for skilled workers only, so not a major issue.
