Angela Rayner's legacy will be bigger than anybody in the media who has been after her head since day one. Against all odds she has helped bring about a huge uplift to workers' and renters' rights. Meanwhile, journalists spend their days snipping women. Thank you for everything you've done, Angela.
The truth is, the media class won't be happy until Rachel Reeves, Jess Phillips, and Bridget Phillipson are hounded out of their jobs. I've come to the conclusion that, alongside Angela Rayner, these are the four women, the media will stop at nothing to get rid of.

From where I'm standing, I don't think Reeves was being dishonest in the way claimed.

1) Brexit irrespective of fiscal rules, knocks several billion off tax receipts per year.
2) She did not say to the public, she was going to increase taxes to meet fiscal rules. That is what the Tories decided.
Another attempt at a witch hunt this morning. Yes, she did not mention the offset, but it doesn't matter, because it is not illegal for Reeves to put up taxes in the event she meets her fiscal rules. People want better services, and putting up taxes can support that.

To the media class, the biggest crime Rachel Reeves has ever committed is be a woman from a modest background in a high position of power, while being the first woman in the position she holds. If the media gave the slightest sh*t about honesty, they'd be asking why Farage lied about Brexit.

THE MEDIA CYCLE SUMMARISED:
1) Announce the Government is doing x, despite x not having been decided.
2) Cue outrage from everyone.
3) Government says x is not happening.
4) Cue cries of u-turn, and people still outraged over a policy that won't happen, because the media don't issue a retraction.

The OBR should be abolished.

I will not be the slightest bit surprised if Kemi Badenoch uses the Chancellor's uncle's opinion on the budget as a battering rod in PMQs next week.

Unions represent the people who will benefit most from the Workers Rights Bill, and they are happy to compromise, ergo I am inclined to accept it over a few MPs trying to meet a purity test.
November 28, 2025 at 11:47 AM
I don't recall the media ever asking Osbourne's, Hunt's, or Kwarteng's uncles for their opinion on their budgets. This is not journalism; this is misogynistic barrel-scraping that has got to stop. I assume you'll be asking her sister, Ellie, for her opinion next, for the sake of balance, no?

When Kirsty McColl said, "You know it makes me sick, but it's a bozo's world", I really felt it. She is missed to this day.

Aw. Shame. *sarc*.

Leaving aside the misogyny for a second... Having an MSc in Economics doesn't necessarily mean somebody will make an effective Chancellor of the Exchequer, but don't people think that perhaps the PM considered this qualification when appointing her?
The level of misogyny thrown at the Chancellor of the Exchequer from so called progressives on here is absolutely rank. Suggesting that she "slept her way to the top", and that Starmer fawns all over her, is disgusting frankly. You can criticise her economic policy without being misogynistic.

Ed Davey is lying to you. An anti-DST lobby group just yesterday complained that the Government has not, in fact, slashed or changed the DST. Any future changes will result from a globally agreed tax alternative. Absolutely shameless from someone I expected better from.

"DST will be removed once a global solution for the reallocation of taxing rights is in place. In the meantime, DST continues to operate as an interim solution, ensuring that digital businesses contribute UK tax in line with the value derived from user-related activities in the UK." Davey is lying.
I wish I was surprised. Buried in this Budget is a plan to slash the Digital Services Tax, giving a multi-billion tax cut to US tech giants and the likes of Elon Musk.

That's right, cutting taxes for the world's richest man while hiking them for millions of hard-working Brits.

So, Zack Polanski was saying that the two child benefit cap has been scrapped due to pressure from the Greens. No, Zack, the Child Poverty Taskforce chaired by Bridget Phillipson, and others, recommended it. It was always going to happen whether you became leader or not.

And now we go to some impartial and insightful analysis from Beth Rigby *sarc*.

Budget 2025: The same old Labour? Why party's credibility might not be recoverable
With more than 400 MPs, you might expect the PM and chancellor to take tough decisions. Instead, they find themselves just trying to survive.

I cannot believe that Beth Rigby is suggesting that Rachel Reeves should resign. Why the hec should she? Cope harder, Beth.

I have to say, this shocked me (in a good way). I have never seen Reeves so confident and assertive, without coming across like a bully. Badenoch should take notes!
November 26, 2025 at 9:50 PM
I cannot believe that Alistair Campbell and Rory Stewart are out there saying that Kemi Badenoch's speech was funny, and a good performance. It was pure bullying from a woman who clearly has a jealousy problem. It was about as funny as orphanage on fire.

I honestly think that while the budget is imperfect, Reeves absolutely smashed it. She could have just said, "You know my budget, I'm leaving", but she went after the Tories in a way I have never seen from her before. Her rebuttal of a heckler opposite was really quite impressive.
