Notably this problem is also solved 100% without any AI and instead, at zero cost, by journals adopting format-agnostic initial submissions (as many journals have already done)

Finally, someone has solved a real problem with AI! No more having to take a paper in the format for a journal that rejected you, and reformat it for a new journal. Well done!! formatmypaper.com

Whoever @sangerinstitute.bsky.social was responsible for scoring gene expression in COSMIC on the assumption that all gene expression profiles are normally distributed is not on my Xmas card list.

I’m seeing pieces and posts today about how useful digital ID could be in navigating bureaucracy etc. Yes. It would. That, however, is *not* how the government tried to sell it to us. Instead, they portrayed it as a tool to stop illegal working and curb illegal immigration. 1/4

On the centenary of Thatcher's birth, there have been predictable calls for a memorial to her memory. But Britain's 2300 food banks serve that purpose already.

I think that book 1 was so totally different/unrelated that it’s not necessary to refresh that one. It’s kind of like an apocryphal prequel. But 2 leads directly onto 3 - there might even have a cliffhanger IIRC. So I’m gonna reread 2!

News flash - as long as there is the existence of organized religion (and the greed and lust for power that goes along with organized religion), there will be no true peace in the Middle East. It's just not gonna happen.

The Portland Frog army has now infiltrated Tulsa, OK and they’ve made an unlikely alliance with the T-Rex infantry and Sharks on Hoverboards mercenary forces.

This is truly terrifying.

13 hrs later the answer has occurred to me. “What I’m afraid of is not getting old.”

Back in A&E (kidney problems this time).

A woman turned to me earlier and said - out of nowhere - "are you afraid of getting old"?

I'm in a Beckett play.

The Spectator (owned by GBNews owner Paul Marshall - estimated wealth of £800 million) doesn’t like taxing wealth fairly.

I wonder how they got to this editorial decision?

Let’s tax wealth fairly, fund front line services & make hope normal again.
