I few years ago I wrote a tongue-in-cheek guide to writing literary haiku called "How to Write Bad Haiku."
It also has a picture of the late great Jabberwok, who was tortoiseshell with white patches, and whom I miss.
Enjoy!

How to Write Bad Haiku
A humorous guide to writing "bad" haiku -- mediocre and boring ones -- whose goal is to help people write and edit haiku better.

On the longest night of all the year

in the forests up the hill,

the little owl spoke soft and clear

to bid the night be longer still.

The mouse paused, looked up at Ladislaw and smiled. "We control the flow of words between stories. Prevent bleeching, flooding and the intermixing. Manage the #undertone."

"You wouldn't want Emma Woodhouse wandering into Do androids dream of electric sheep?" Piped up a neighbouring mouse.

Autumn dawn even
the sun more beautiful
half hidden

By happy accident I wrote a #haiku with "sun," today's #dailyhaikuprompt before coming to Bluesky this morning.
Hope it's a sign i will have a good day!

Also don't forget that in the US, we had the Fugitive Slave Act...

He would have turned in the family hiding Anne Frank.
A tweet by Bill Melugin reads: “Regardless of how one feels about immigration policy, according to U.S. law, this is a felony. Harboring of aliens. 8 USC 1324.” A tweet from Laura N. Rodríguez Presa reads: “During a military-style raid on a building in Chicago’s South Shore, one resident heard a knock on his door. It wasn’t the feds — it was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for help. He let them hide in his unit for the next 3 days.”

🌱 blossom, bee, buds. Look how that petal glows through those transparent wings.
Orange cosmos with bumblebee. Two buds of the same plant hang in front of its petals at the top. Green leaves, and a glimpse of a pink cosmos in the lower left.

I hear birds on the roof . . .
I hear birds on the roof --
pigeons, maybe collared doves,
nothing native to this place

The birdsong leaves no trace
after sunrise fades Like all my loves
this green world remains aloof

Doves strut and bubble on my roof
but I remain alone. Do, does
my heart break? No: I'm alone with you
