I once lost a spelling bee because of a noisy machine on the table making it hard to hear the word I was given. The teacher said "uppity". I thought she said "uppedine". I assumed that was a real word. But if it WERE a real word, I bet I would have spelled it RIGHT!

When it comes to famous authors, there's only one thing I care about: what they named their cats. Hemingway, Orwell, Proust, Dostoyevsky... Their books? Ho hum. Their very lives? Who gives a flip. I want to know what names they gave to their cuddly little feline companions!
