Book shelves pin. This is about a third of my physical. I collect and read SFF, Pulp, Gothic, Weird Fic, Penny Dreadfuls, Adventure, Kaiju and some Horror

I primarily post pictures of book mail, reading progress, action figure collections, trading cards, reviews, video games, RPGs and board games

Yes, that'll be related. The Grand Tournament is in the UK for the first time in 30+ years and started today at the Royal Albert Hall

Ah well. It'll sit there with Dhalgren and some of the Strugatsky books at the bottom of the priority list I think

It's one of those "trippy" books as i understand it. And given I loathe PKD's writing and struggled through Lucius Shepard's Life During Wartime, I'm confident in saying that particular Aldiss is unlikely to click with me. I might give it a chapter or two just to see though

Fun. Missed most of it, but hopefully catch the next couple of nights at least

Ooh, there’s sumo wrestling on the BBC!

I have 1-12 of Dumarest and a Gollancz omnibus of three of his other titles that I can't remember. Not started them yet, but they sound so much fun

I'm about 20-25% through reading them all (including several dnfs). I keep them tagged to my database below (although I know the list is missing a load due to some quirks in the system since removing the black spined editions)

Oh yeah I agree - I liked it, but couldn't finish it first attempt. I'd def give Non-Stop or Greybeard a go instead. They are much, much better books. Two of the best Masterworks for me

I’ve made quite a headway with the masterworks since covid, despite collecting since 1999. Priority to read include Rama, le Guin and giving Delaney a 2nd chance

Next though will be Land Under England, just because I like interior Earth stories

“For the World is Hollow and I have Touched the Sky”
Land under England by Joseph O’Neill

One of those Aldiss books is very… different. Which have you read previously?
kdsbooks.bsky.social
Sometimes I double up for the cover art, but I lean towards reissues these days as personal preference
kdsbooks.bsky.social
Do you have the Aldiss grains of sand one in vintage pb? If not, you can have mine when this is published if I can find it

Pacifist space opera on a hospital floating in space. It is a very well regarded series, but it’s only been available via ebook for a long time. Somewhere round here I’ve got the first novel

Somewhere…

Barefoot from the Head will almost certainly sit on the shelf unread given what I’ve heard about it, but the Sector General stuff I’ve waited a very long time to read
kdsbooks.bsky.social
Yeah, it’s those I’m looking forward to most. I only have Star Surgeon in pb with its wacky cover.

The SF Masterworks has been in a lull for the last year or so. The schedule lists 5 new ones coming. I’ll likely replace any vintage pbs I own to continue my set of these

🪐📚💙
Sector General omnibus 1 and 2 (James White)
The Forge of God (Greg Bear)
Galaxies like Grains of Sand (Brian Aldiss)
Barefoot in the Head (Brian Aldiss)

Hard Switch is a great book. Long wait for a follow up, but glad it's happening!

BIG NEWS! Get ready for more THE HARD SWITCH by @odpomery.bsky.social! 🎉 The trio is back, hiding out and searching for a sustainable way to travel between worlds... but trouble is mounting! Look for this sci-fi sequel in Fall 2026!

Yeah in the last couple of months *I think*. It's quite expensive though at (in your currency) $60

Robin Hood, Sea Hawk, Santa fe Trail, Edge of Darkness, Objective Burma, Don Juan

It'll likely happen, but I think Warner did a 6 film boxset with those two in it this year

When I mean sub, I mean going to the feed and pinning it to your feed lists (which can be sorted in any order from the feeds menu). You can then peruse a given feed from the top or side bars on Bluesky
kdsbooks.bsky.social
For those who want to add to their existing SF, horror, crime, non-fic BookSky feeds, there are now some new ones - thanks to Elise

As said below and with the other feeds, keywords and specific emoji combos will add a post to the feed. But these things only work if people sub to them as well
