Yes.

The tweet above this one has a link to the peer-reviewed scientific study.

A small snapshot from the medical literature of the bodily systems that can be negatively impacted by the virus you all are so baffled by people not wanting to constantly inhale:

You all are welcome to advocate for improved indoor air filtration any time! The Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics says long covid is now the most common chronic illness in children. The biggest misconception is that only the (already) vulnerable are at high risk.
From The Sick Times on Instagram: a new study found that one in seven children under age six with prior SARS-CoV-2 infection met the probable diagnostic criteria for long COVID. Studying over 1,000 infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children, researchers revealed differences in how long COVID presented between age groups. “Young children have been largely excluded from public conversations about the impact of COVID,” said one co-author. “[This research] should be a wake-up call to providers and parents: babies and toddlers can develop long COVID.” The authors also put together a resource designed for caregivers of children with long COVID, which identifies long COVID as “the most common chronic health problem in children.” Citation: journal of the American medical association pediatrics.

Every time a liberal says some bs like this an RFK gets its wings
chromatowski.bsky.social
I hesitate to elevate this comment—IME people aware of how uninformed it is are in the majority on Bsky—but worth observing that this coming from eg the NYT opinion page is part of why RFK has an opening to pretend to be better on Long Covid than liberals. They’ve made the bar that low.

The hubris of your statements while not knowing any of this is pretty staggering, my dude. And myalgic encephalomyelitis patients very often get worse from repeat Covid infections. This disease is already ignored by the medical system which is why you don’t know this & why there’s so little help.
katieklocksin.bsky.social
The most mild form of this viral-induced disease leaves patients with 50% of their former ability to function including work, enjoy life, etc. In its most severe form patients are 100% bedbound, tube fed, unable to tolerate light, sound, or human company. And there are zero FDA approved treatments.

People should really learn one (1) single thing about myalgic encephelomyelitis before proclaiming that people with one of the most devastating diseases in existence are overreacting when trying not to get even worse from the ongoing pandemic.

You have a lot of opportunities for education from people who are better informed than you are, it would be super cute if you would learn.

Some of those people are currently on the staff of elected Republicans, in fact. They’re part of the present of the GOP.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.

Hey look, Israel broke the cease-fire, twice, in two different ways, within 24 hours - again.

NEW: Israel informed the UN it will permit only 300 aid trucks into Gaza daily, not the 600 mandated by the ceasefire it just signed.

Yuppppp!!! It may take decades but at some point it’s going to be clear that minimizing covid did incalculable harm. We’re not wrong, we’re just early. As a friend of mine has said instead of heeding the canaries in the coal mine people are mostly like “dang these canaries are annoying.”

Nearly all the staff in the Office of Special Education have been fired as part of Trump’s sweeping layoffs.

These are the people responsible for protecting the civil rights of students with disabilities and ensuring they receive an equal education.

More needless cruelty on display.

I have a sliver of the life and security that I used to have, but people calling us ill informed or overreacting aren’t listening to the very people they feel entitled to invalidate. I’ve enjoyed not having these convos pop up on this app but I guess that era is over.
katieklocksin.bsky.social
!!!!!! Disabled people matter for fuck’s sake and we’re well informed about our own health situation and the risks of covid. Many of us have learned the hard way by having covid obliterate our bodies and lives. It’s infantilizing and ableist to say we’re not well informed.
erinraeburn.bsky.social
Convenience wins out over compassion, though, and asking people to protect others is too much apparently.

Because when disabled people beg for basic consideration, we're branded demanding and fearful.

Framing our legitimate needs as fear is not okay.

Anyway, I've unfollowed Mr. Bouie, someone I used to respect, because his take on disabled people in these posts is more than offensive, it's harmful, particularly considering the size of his following and influence.

I cannot adequately express how exhausted I am from dealing with all of this on top of chronic illness: the obstacles and inaccessibility, the ableist and dismissive attitudes, being excluded from the world.

And my mental health has taken a serious hit from this latest masking discourse.
