A year ago we launched Clipper towards Europa.
Since then NASA science has been ravaged & threatened by our malevolent administration. By the time Clipper is orbiting Jupiter and sending back precious data we will have different people in power. As perilous as the journey is, that gives me hope.

A lot of comments on Mars rovers or Moon landings, but it's important to remember that the planet NASA studies most is Earth. This is less about cutting flashy things like moonwalks and more about keeping communities in the dark on climate, weather, agriculture, pollution, natural hazards, and more.

Flocculent spirals, like NGC 2090, seen in this #NASAWebb image, are one of the more common types of spiral galaxies. They have patchy arms that seemingly blend together and disconnect in spots.

A spiral galaxy. There is a fuzzy, blue-white spot at the center of the galaxy, which is a cluster of stars. Two, patchy orange arms composed of dust and gas spiral outward and wrap around the central region. Brighter orange patches dot the arms. The entire structure glows with a slight blue halo, which becomes more diffuse toward the edges of the image. There are many orange, white, and blue background galaxies spread throughout.

Part of my ultimately doomed career as a geneticist involved cutting off fruit fly heads with a razor and lining up the severed heads on a piece of adhesive tape. At this distance I cannot recall why we were doing that.
