Very insightful - even as someone who has failed a lot, I felt like I learned something.
Every academic career is built on rejection, but we don’t show it.

CVs list publications, grants & awards, not rejected manuscripts, unfunded proposals, or failures.

But those invisible rejections shape us more than our successes ever do.

As a South Carolinian, I'm particularly sad to see this is the state of our politics. Goodstein has been associated with numerous high-profile rulings and this comes after she issued a ruling against Trump.
Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that engulfed the home of Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein, in South Carolina. Three people, who had to be rescued by kayak, were injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation. nyti.ms/48j9GPY

At @i4replication.bsky.social it is our ambition to foster a replication culture in the social sciences – and we hence welcome if our approaches are replicated as well: Replication Games on using LLM in experiments, in Valencia and Oxford. talkingtomachines.org/projects/ime...
Yesterday evening, I gave my first invited talk at @economia-ibero.bsky.social. It was incredibly rewarding to present my research on protest policing in liberal democracies to such an engaged group of students. 👩‍🏫
Excited to share what we've been working on this Summer!
Great time at the Political Economy of Climate & Environment (PECE) conference!🍃 Presented my work with @katelynnutley.bsky.social on elite responses to climate pressures. Thanks to chair @lcsanford.bsky.social and fellow panelists Christian Baehr, @michaelhlerner.bsky.social, and Felicia Robertson.
I do genuinely believe in quantitative and qualitative approaches to political science and am a strong advocate of mixed methods. That said, I've just used the magick package in R to make this novelty hat and am now accepting nominations for "least helpful contribution to methods discourse".

EPSA have announced that they will hold a conference in July 2026.

😵‍💫 We understand that there might be some confusion about EPSS and EPSA.

👉🏽 So we thought we would clarify some things.

A short 🧵
I’m excited to share that I've joined @uclspp.bsky.social to work on the AdJUST project — funded by @horizoneu.bsky.social and @ukri.org — focused on advancing understanding of the challenges, policies, and measures for a just energy transition in the EU. See you all in London (intermittently)! 🌱

Had an amazing time at #EPSA2025 networking and presenting two projects: on conflict mediation with Kasia Houghton, and another on environmental protest and policy responses with @katelynnutley.bsky.social. Thanks to my discussants, Anna Lia Brunetti and Carly Nicole Wayne, for the great feedback!
Presented my matched wake analysis on the policing of partisan protestors in the UK at #EPSA2025 in Madrid! 🇪🇸

Research like this doesn't happen in isolation - deeply grateful to everyone who got me here, especially @standrewsir.bsky.social, @elisaadamico.bsky.social and Nick Barnes.

Are you interested in social class? I've two working papers which show:

1️⃣ Using actor recordings of different accents, that people derive class from accent and this causally influences trait evaluations

2️⃣ That class-based descriptive representation improves support for the political system.
