There’s already the Adam Raine suit in California, and I’m aware of several others in the development stage. (The furthest along is actually against Character in central district of Florida. To me, that one is predictive of the broader trend.)

“We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive…” is one of those statements that (if I were consulting on any of the ongoing or prospective lawsuits against OpenAI) I would snag as evidence of actual knowledge of the risks of their product.

We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right.

Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases.

In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing).

In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

This is Chop. He was shot and killed by masked assailants in plain clothes who go by ICE. They showed up at his door "looking for migrants after receiving a tip." The son of the family asked if they could wait before entering the home while he put Chop away in the bathroom, as the dog can be aggressive with strangers. According to the family, it is at this point that the son went to his pickup truck to retrieve his ID and a Border Patrol agent entered the home, opened the bathroom door, and shot Chop. None of the agents helped the family, who desperately tried to render aid to Chop, as he bled to death on the kitchen floor. Unsurprisingly, the agent who shot their dog then hid from them and refused to give his name. Even more unsurprising, they did not find any evidence of the migrants they were there to terrorize in the first place.

There are quite a lot of cases like this, including One for Israel ministries (which is the major group in this style right now). In my informal survey of most-of-the-messianic-Jews-I’ve-met, most have connections that are iffy. By contrast, I know many Jews who have converted; none went J4J.

A part of my family is such a story (or, rather, was in the 50s when they emigrated). Their UU environment was quite inclusive and family members were invited to teach the Sunday school classes about Judaism. So, I can vouch that at least one case actually happened.

It's one thing to say "we'll withhold support if so-and-so isn't in power." It's a stupid thing to say out loud, but it's basically de facto US foreign policy for over a century.

It's another (including illegal) to say it about a US city, though illegal stuff is this administration's favorite.
