A few years ago I contacted the council and confirmed that yes, it is still fully functioning and connected to the sewer

I've been using qwen2.5-coder:1.5b which runs fast enough on the ridiculous tiny laptop I'm travelling with while not being too stupid. If you've got a chunkier machine I'd use 3b or larger - test it out.

Given what we know of Wikipedia behaviour most edits wouldn't actually touch the same areas, and you only need to support being offline for ~24h (the longest commercial flight is 16h).

Worst case you flag it to the editor to resolve, best case a CRDT/Automerge will handle it automatically.

Strongly recommend keeping a small LLM model on your laptop for coding on long journeys without an internet connection.

It's like travelling with a drunk colleague who half-remembers everything, but is roughly correct enough that it's still worth asking them questions when you get stuck

My AI came into the world like all children - covered with blood and screaming in horror at what it discovered.

My reckon is we're going to see engineering shift further from writing code and more into translating discovery into constraints for the AI to solve, just another step along the path away from writing assembly directly.

Basically: If your skillset is translating tickets into code, you are screwed.

Anyone saying "never" needs to re-examine where they are actually useful in the development process, but in the near-ish term:

- Art doesn't need to be accurate
- Current AI is difficult to control accurately
- Inaccurate code kills companies and people
- It is unclear if this can be solved
