So much of the conversation about cycling assumes two wheels and lycra. But it’s far broader. For many Disabled people, cycling is mobility. Trikes, recumbents, handcycles, e-bikes, tandems can be aids to freedom and independence.

Happy Columbo day to those who celebrates.
Life-sized bronze statue of Columbo, portrayed in his signature disheveled trench coat, standing and scratching his head in a thoughtful pose. In front of him, there is a smaller statue of his loyal basset hound, sitting and looking up at him. The statues are placed on a sidewalk in an urban area with trees and parked cars lining the street.

Israeli leaders screamed their genocidal intent at the top of their lungs all the way through.

No crime in history has been so confessed to as it actually happened.

But almost all Western media outlets suppressed this.

Kudos to @scotnational.bsky.social for not being one of them.

I live 5min walking distance from 2 supermarkets, 2 pubs, a cinema and numerous restaurants, 10min from town, 15min from work, 30min bus ride to nearest city. Despite this, car-owing zealots seem to think I'm an idiot because I don't spend £200+ a month on a vehicle I don't need.

Obviously the irony being, most of these places are hot because people don't walk.

Bizarre. All my raincoats work. As does my umbrella. And guess what, my skin is mostly waterproof, it doesn't matter if I get a bit wet anyway.

Heh, I remember the speaking clock. Crazy times.
jontafkasi.bsky.social
It changed three times. 0663 first, then they added the 1 for trunk calls, then they added a 7 before the 42443 just before I moved out.

Most 'classics' are absolutely terrible. I'm looking at you, Ulysses. And don't get me started on anything from Ayn Rand, my god they were awful.

Footnote for any of the Da Vinci books, absolutely awful.

'An upgrade tape'. Say that to kids nowadays and they won't believe you.

I think I can remember the password for Mercury's (remember them) telephone exchange archiving servers. It was the same on every single site. Eventually they got wise to us being able to logon to fault find so I created an upgrade tape which reset the password to the default.

I'll tell you a little more. I can remember the IP addresses of devices I assigned going back 25 years. Obviously I can't remember their MAC addresses, I'm not a weirdo.

Yep, he's top notch.

My phone number when I grew up was 01663 42443. This was 40 years ago.

I can also remember both my work mobile number, and my personal mobile number, not to mention my home phone number that hasn't been used for years. Can't everyone do this?

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Might use one of my raspberry pi's to do the same thing, bin it.
