I'm glad to talk about this kinda stuff myself because we're all kinda figuring it out and it helps (helps me at least) to be able to work on these more nuanced ideas and perspectives. So thank you for being open about your perspective and mine :)

I found out today that M. Night Shyamalan is directing a Magic 8 Ball movie, and I was like, yeah, that tracks, I guess.

I don't mean to get all in your business, I'm just mostly talking to myself, because I'm wrestling with some identity vs public persona stuff myself. So it's on my mind

I would argue that if being visibly queer is an aspect of your online identity that someone responds to, that's still pretty good. If that's what they see first, then that's just them responding to their own experience, and it isn't reflective of the value you bring otherwise. I think it's all valid

RIP Drew Struzan - the best to ever do it.

Lots of his iconic poster art is going around today, so I’m sharing a deeper cut - the poster art that he created as a prop for The Mist, depicting a theoretical Dark Tower film.

As of yet, I do not own any throwing stars as an adult btw

When I was a kid, one of the things I looked forward to the most about being an adult was the ability to buy throwing stars from the back of karate magazines.

Why was a fat kid with no interest in Karate reading Karate magazines? For the ads in the back, selling throwing stars, of course!

It's nice to be seen, but the more eyes you have on you, the more likely you are to meet people who actually want to engage with something more meaningful than just checking a box. So I see it as a win-win.

if Frankenstein doesn't come to Victoria, we're going to have one unhappy Joey.

…the hours I spent looking at this VHS art. The richness, the light, the realism. It wasn’t until decades later that I realized the same artist was responsible for so much of the imagery of my childhood. Drew Struzan was singular. I’m grateful for the work he left us.

The world lost a genial man, a genius communicator and a supreme artist. I lost a friend - beloved Drew.

I'm still kinda mad that I found out that in the song Bye Bye Love by The Cars he's saying "just a broken alibi" and not "just a fuckin alibi"

I like mine way better

I always talk shit about John Carpenter but I gotta say, I do like Star Man. I haven't seen it since like, 1985, but that opening shot of the satalite playing Satisfation over the earth was epic as fuck.

I always skip While My Guitar Gently Weeps even though I love it and it's one of George's best songs, because Eric Clapton plays on it and I hate Eric Clapton more than most people on earth.

@mikeflanaganfilm.com can we get a George Orwell horror series?
joehumphrey.bsky.social
Well, that escalated quickly.
Let's manifest something good for next year.

It's not actually Fight Club with vampires, but it's gonna deal with some similar things, while also being its own thing
The cover for my upcoming novel Dee and Birdy, with the subtitle
"It's fucking Fight Club with vampires"

I thought you meant Sally Hawkins at first, and I was really confused because, as far as I know, she's not particularly controversial. But then my brain caught up
Sally Hawkins

I haven't drawn Dee in a way that I'm satisfied with, but they're my non-binary vampire from my books Jack and Danny, and probably my next book too. They're black, Jewish, and land outside of the gender binary. I love writing them, and I really hope to feature them more prominently in the future

I'm in Canada, but I guess we're not doing Thanksgiving this year, so happy Thanksgiving to the Canadians who celebrate.

Either way, if you're an American celebrating Christopher Columbus today, examine your soul.

If your argument against trans people is "if an archeologist digs up your bones" then you're a fucking dingus. Since when are archeologists the defining last word on gender? Shut up with that nonsense. You bring NOTHING to the table when you come at me with that shit.
