Please contact your senators about KOSA. This bill has amassed a lot of cosponsors.

We can beat this, but we need people to call, email and send letters en mass. Please try to contact your reps as often as you are able to and encourage people you know to join you!

If you're like me and you are struggling to contact your senators re: KOSA via their phone lines this week, I recommend attempting to send physical letters or emails in the meantime.

Here is a script you can use to contact your reps!

Some folks just show up in meditation and say “it’s dangerous to go alone; take this” and hand you a little blue scorpion-centaur girl.
Say hi, everybody.

The entire confederate south should’ve been dissolved into federal territory with states later redrawn and entered into the union after a second constitutional congress to remove all the slavery concessions within it
you know what is totally cool to say? It is totally cool to say that every last confederate officer should have been hanged and every last plantation owner dispossessed and hanged after the civil war. It is totally cool to say it. it has no correlation with how you feel about politics in the present
Seriously considering doing the same, but … Aarrgh, having to punt Scrivener and the Affinity suite! And Bear! Sadness!
One of the things you gotta remember, as a practitioner, is that the other side of the fence is just as much a jungle as this side is, and there’s just as many tigers in that jungle as there are in this one.
And there’s just as much quicksand and poison ivy, too.
Grant’s always been mind bogglingly careless about magical hygiene and security, as evidenced by their writing themselves into a comic narrative and then giving their in-narrative avatar a horrifying torture session and THEN being surprised when their actual face starts to melt off.

“To face down Donald Trump’s power grab and his terror campaign targeting “antifa,” we need everyone, of all walks of life, to proclaim that opposition to fascism is both laudable and urgent.”
Anarchists are known for our courage. We have gotten used to acting boldly in an array of contexts.

What is needed now is the courage to establish public positions around which a fighting movement can cohere.

This both scarier and simpler than many of the things we have done in the past.

There are no good-faith anti-trans arguments and no acceptable compromises on trans lives
Like many trans healthcare bans, the Fenway Health policy covers everyone up to age 19, including legal adults who are 18 years old.

Mainstream reporting consistently ignores this creeping ban on adult care, which extends the legal minority of trans adults to maximize the harms of delayed care.

it is no wonder that 50501, a movement of radlibs who are very upset but don’t want to get in trouble, would be boosting superficial activism.

superficial activism has its place, but if that place is front and center, it kills whatever movement it is skimming off the top of.

but because so few spend any time actually analyzing how protests function, they see viral moments and seek to replicate them, believing this to be what solidarity is.

would they replicate the shadowy figures throwing gas cans back? no. they don’t want to get their hands dirty.

this is where movements become moments & die: people see the display of a radical tactic and, not comprehending the tactical purpose, adopt only the display as an echo of the fight.

it becomes an empty, consumerist meme: buy an inflatable and dance around and that’s how you fight ICE!

the spectacle as a deescalating tactic, absent anything to deescalate, can easily devolve into stuntery and cosplay: nothing materially impacted, but people pat themselves on the back for the sweat from dancing around for a couple hours, as if they had done something other than tire themselves out.

the above clip looks like it’s in a parking lot on a street corner, a visibility demo. if so, they might as well have a guy flipping a sign for discounts on papa john’s with them, as this type of demo is just that: a form of advertising.

in this setting, absurdity may draw eyes but nothing else.

clownery/absurdity in the face of extremism and violence function to take the wind out of the sails of whatever volatile opposition is being stood up against.

that tactic, though, only works if there’s a direct confrontation.

as charming and whimsical as some will view this, it bears noting that absurdity—not militancy or might—are what people have chosen to repeat from the portland standoffs against ICE.

why is that?

what purpose does this serve?

a mini 🧵:
The Portland Frog army has now infiltrated Tulsa, OK and they’ve made an unlikely alliance with the T-Rex infantry and Sharks on Hoverboards mercenary forces.

This is truly terrifying.
Oh look, a blindingly corrupt sociopathic corporate tool carrying water for the monsters that are eating the world. Who could possibly have predicted THAT.

This, of course, is what the DNC wants everybody to wave the flag for, come ‘28. The goddam Smiler, from Transmetropolitan.
CA governor Gavin Newsom vetoed both of the major AI bills on his desk that Silicon Valley meaningfully opposed—one making it illegal for bosses to use AI to fire workers with no oversight, one requiring chatbot sellers to ensure their products do not harm children before marketing to them.
Silicon Valley's capture of our political institutions is all but complete

If I had explain American history in one sentence, I could do worse than "John Brown was hung for treason, but Robert E. Lee was not."

That’s the fucking key, right there. The reason long-term functional societies diffuse power through multiple layers and groups of people isn’t JUST to keep it from being misused. It’s also to keep it from devouring the people using it.
the key is the money goes somewhere I never again look at the balance, I don’t touch it, I don’t even choose grant recipients (just general areas to fund) I pay subject matter experts to do that for me to protect my own cognitive health. utilizing enormous power is lethal brain poison

These are both parties of wealthy interests first and foremost. That's what everyone sees.

I honestly no longer believe this is salvageable but if they want to defeat fascism, they need to actually pretend they care about democracy. Which they do not the second it intersects with big interests.
