There are about 1.4 million Georgians receiving SNAP benefits and of those 640,000 are children. Hunger should not be a political issue. I donated, if you can too please do.
From the Atlanta Community Food Bank: “SNAP brings roughly $130 million in food purchasing power into our 29-county region every month — about half the total food the Food Bank distributes in an entire year. Without it, the need for emergency food is expected to surge.”

Please help if you can!

Just remember Republicans signed off on a bill this summer that cuts SNAP benefits by $186 billion over the next ten years that's per the Congressional Budget Office (nonpartisan).
One year ago, the headline for the NYT Opinion page.

For over 100 days, journalist Mario Guevara has been detained by U.S. law enforcement for his livestream reporting.

He is the only journalist behind bars for his journalism, and he could be deported for doing his job.

We demand his immediate release.

I’d seen the nutty excerpts of Miller’s speech at Kirk’s memorial, but hadn’t seen the whole thing. It’s easily the most unhinged, unapologetically fascist rhetoric I’ve ever seen from someone in US government.

It’s more of a discount, Dwight Schrute Goebbels than Goebbels. But still.
'Scary as all hell': Onlookers horrified as Stephen Miller parrots Nazi speech
Stephen Miller delivered a venomous speech at right-wing activist Charlie Kirk's memorial service that bore a close resemblance to one given by a notorious Nazi leader at a similar event, according to...

This is a horrifying travesty. Mario is a journalist who was covering No Kings protests; his detention is an outrage and we are hearing reports that he may be deported imminently. Raise your voices here: action.aclu.org/send-message...

The Georgia Public Service Commission is the worst in the nation, and I can prove it. I've been showing this photo for a while. It depicts Ga Power lawyers with BUSINESS BEFORE THE COMMISSION donating money to commissioners for favorable decisions. Which they get. 100% of the time.
(D) fundraising emails that start with "Jennifer where are you?" Are going to get automatic bounce backs that say "WHERE TF ARE YOU?" We have an illiterate fifth grader dropping bombs on Iran, call for impeachment at the very least. This unchecked megalomania isn't going to fill your coffers.
Given that a person pretending to be law enforcement assassinated a MN lawmaker + his wife & shot another lawmaker, it's fair to question people in civilian clothes, masks and no ID demanding cooperation. Calling 911 to report "armed & dangerous people pretending to be law enforcement" seems right.
Protect journalist Mario Guevara. Call/email DeKalb Co. CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. Condemn DeKalb PD's actions.

ICE is attempting to deport an Atlanta-based Spanish-language reporter from El Salvador who has been covering their immigration abductions. He has legal work authorization and a path to a green card.

This is pretty obviously an assault on the free press.

This put a smile on my face today. Thanks for listening and lauding.
I let my dishes pile up for a few days at the end of the week. On Sunday's I catch up washing & listen to The Glimpse, a podcast by @brinkerhoffpoetry.bsky.social, helmed by @camillerankine.bsky.social last year & Seán Hewitt this year. The episode with poet @janeclarke.bsky.social was so enriching.
Disappeared by the U.S. government. His family is terrified. No records of his whereabouts.

Due process matters and it’s not happening. This isn’t a partisan issue.

Cats can be mercurial + crystal clear. Love a cat? Poetry too? Check out The Glimpse. Poet Martina Evans reads her work “The Day My Cat Spoke to Me” and discusses what inspired the poem. Host Seán Hewitt admits to still working to understand the language of a cat.
