I...don't think I was disputing that?
this like, say, an A&W US and A&W Canada situation, where the two companies apparently *are* completely separate (even the menu is different, iirc) and just share some trademarks / root beer?
not that the Teen Vogue news isn't awful, because it sure is, but.... Teen Vogue was separate from Vogue? Like, completely?
imagine saying, with a straight face, that the "ethos" of bluesky devs impresses you
Don't mistake me. There are a zillion reasonable critiques of AI to make. But an information professional ostensibly in the job of making information more available immediately reaching for the one thing that is *most responsible* for suppressing the spread of information is.... A Choice.

Former Hamilton Centre MP Matthew Green is now the Amalgamated Transit Union International Political and Communications Specialist. #yhmcc
I was JUUUUUUST thinking about that person a couple of weeks ago.
Yes, you must absolutely respect copyright, in the same manner, with the same fervour, attention, and feelings of positivity, that you must respect the police.

Because I only have one rare and precious life, the moment I start reading some AI critique -- especially from librarians -- that kicks off with "I am opposed to AI because of copyright infringement" I immediately close the tab, opportunity cost recouped.
Don't even care at this point (and I'm pretty sure Sarah doesn't either) about reinstating her in the party or whatever. Just a "uh, you were right and we were assheads" or something.

Imagine you time travel back to 1847 and you find the left response to industrialization is a) machines will never be as good as human weavers or b) we need to copyright loom patterns or c) it’s a speculative bubble.

You’d say “Y’all. Not helping. What you need is obviously a labor movement.”
I'd give pretty much anything Aaron writes a fair shake. Guy's good.
I think you would make a terrific freemason franklin
On the other hand, cheap to heat in the winter. Just make some toast and leave the toaster door open.
Hamilton - and everywhere else, hopefully - will need to adjust their goddamn expectations, I suppose.
