I think I'm a lot more charitable towards this than I am a lot of other modern remakes because, well, for a start it's the original director doing it but also I think the game could be a better version of itself while SH2 and RE4 were already perfect.

Have you ever seen the genuinely fantastic Japanese box art for this game? The package designer took a look at this funny skeleton with a guitar and went, "Hey that kinda reminds me of the Grateful Dead" and ran with it

Japanese box art for Mr. Bones on the Sega Saturn, borrowing many motifs from Grateful Dead posters and iconography, juxtaposing the game's own skeleton imagery with roses, ornate borders and rainbow gradients.
