Annie Dillard, this morning: "The interior life is often stupid."
I have a poem in this issue!
Yay! So excited for this issue!
Brief check-in-- I hope everyone is doing as well as possible.

Spent the holiday weekend with family in Texas, where I read some poems, and some Camus. We watched an Ernst Lubitsch and ate too much.

I got some great feedback on my full-length poetry manuscript. Lots to think about. Maybe someday!
Signing off for a while. Need to focus on figuring out where my writing is going.

Here's two of our cats, yesterday.
Our cat Molly, splashed with light and shade from kitchen blinds.

She wears the stripes well.

something I'm surprised gen AI discourse didn't hit yet is the attitude "I asked for it to be done, so I made it" has always been how rich people view using workers who have trained skills and do the technical side. they see themselves as creators for having an idea, we were just a means to that end

Watching early Hou Hsiao-hsien films on the Criterion Channel. Tonight, The Boys From Fengkuei (1983).

So glad to be seeing these at last.

This performance of Carla Bley's "Ida Lupino" (by Paul Bley) meant a lot to me today.

Age verification? Back when I was knee high to a whipper snapper we had to camp out to buy concert tickets & again to reach the barrier.

And radio stations had live djs that would talk to listeners and actually play requests on VYNIL & you could hear the sksksksksk of the needle in the groove.
I think I don't want to read about this.
Visited the eye doctor for the first time in 2 years. Always very stressful-- several vision problems.

After, I slept for 3+ hours.

Anyway, here is my cat playing with the banana I was trying to eat yesterday.

Today is our 11th anniversary. To celebrate, we took a pottery class. Our pots were... well, they aspire to a pleasing form.
Photos from @nicolekenleymiller.bsky.social 's show in Italy last week-- Le Gare Generose. An 18th century opera, but she updated it to the Edwardian period.

Italo Calvino today:

"It's not that you expect anything in particular from this particular book. You're the sort of person who, on principle, no longer expects anything of anything."
