In the spirit of @crushbort.bsky.social post about antagonizing Trick or Treaters with bad candy, what's your bottom of the barrel candy, the one that fills you with rage and disappointment in equal measure?
For me it's Circus Peanuts. Styrofoam peanuts sprayed a sickly shade of orange isn't candy

Protect SNAP Funding During Government Shutdown
Text SIGN PFNGWA to 50409 — The ongoing government shutdown is causing unnecessary harm to vital public services and the American people. I’m deeply concerned about the unprecedented actions being taken by the current regime, particularly regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
These actions go beyond what is required during a shutdown and appear to be politically and racially motivated.
During previous shutdowns, essential programs like SNAP continued to operate normally, because there are procedures for that. However, the current regime is withholding funding and canceling previously approved grants for various programs, including those that provide food assistance to vulnerable populations.
This approach is not only unnecessary but potentially illegal.
The impact of these actions on SNAP recipients could be devastating. Millions of low-income families, children, elderly, and disabled individuals rely on SNAP to put food on their tables. Any disruption to this program could lead to increased hunger and malnutrition in our communities.
I urge you to take immediate action to protect SNAP funding. Specifically, I request that you:
1. Work across party lines to pass legislation that guarantees continued funding for SNAP during government shutdowns.
2. Investigate the legality of the administration's actions in withholding previously approved funds.
3. Implement safeguards in future funding legislation to prevent such abuses of executive power during shutdowns.
The politicization of essential services like SNAP is unacceptable.
Time is ticking away.
Every day the shutdown continues, more families are at risk of food insecurity. Please act swiftly to address this critical issue and uphold our commitment to supporting those in need, regardless of political circumstances.
Thank you.

Stop the Desecration of the People’s House
Text SIGN PZXGEH to 50409 — Americans are watching helplessly as President Trump demolishes the East Wing of the White House — the People’s House — in defiance of his own public promises, federal oversight, and basic respect for our shared national heritage.
Just weeks ago, Trump assured Americans that his planned $250 million ballroom “wouldn’t touch” the existing White House. Now, bulldozers have ripped through the East Wing façade, tearing down offices that once housed first ladies, cultural archives, and the nation’s diplomatic reception rooms. There are no approved plans, no permits, no historic-preservation review, and no sign that priceless artworks or artifacts were protected before demolition began.
Trump insists the new ballroom is “privately funded by me and some friends.” Those unnamed “friends” reportedly include corporate and defense-industry executives whose companies do business with the government — the very definition of a conflict of interest. This private financing makes the desecration worse, not better. The White House is not a private club or a campaign donor’s playground. It belongs to the American people.
Historians and former officials from both parties have condemned the demolition as a “wrecking ball” moment — a perfect symbol of a presidency that prizes spectacle over service and self-glorification over stewardship. Hillary Clinton put it plainly: “It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”
Congress must act immediately.
1. Investigate the legality of this construction and determine whether the President violated the National Historic Preservation Act and the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act.
2. Freeze all ongoing demolition until proper oversight and independent review are complete.
3. Require full disclosure of all donors and companies funding this project.
4. Pass legislation declaring the White House a protected national monument — immune from privately funded alterations and political vanity projects.
The destruction of the East Wing is not modernization; it is desecration. The American people deserve leaders who will defend their house, not demolish it.

Congress Must Reclaim Its War Powers—NOW
Text SIGN PWIQGU to 50409 — Friday brought several new violations of the Constitution and the norms of democracy—unlike anything our republic has ever seen.
Donald Trump accepted $130 million from a private donor to “pay” U.S. military salaries during the shutdown—an act flatly illegal under the Constitution’s Appropriations Clause and the Anti-Deficiency Act. Congress alone controls public money. No president and no billionaire has the right to buy control of America’s armed forces.
The same day, Trump deployed a U.S. naval battlegroup to South America without notifying Congress as required by the War Powers Resolution and ordered airstrikes that killed six people aboard a boat he claimed was smuggling drugs. There was no declaration of war, no authorization of force, and no proof of any crime—just the word of one man.
When asked why he hadn’t sought a declaration of war, Trump said:
“I don’t think we’re gonna necessarily ask for a declaration of war. I think we’re just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country.”
That statement alone should stop Congress cold. The Framers gave you—not the President—the power to decide when this nation goes to war. That’s not politics; that’s the Constitution.
Now Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed yet another strike, bringing the total to ten, and the Pentagon has moved the USS Gerald Ford and five destroyers to Venezuela’s coast while weighing attacks inside that country. This is a full-scale military campaign launched without your consent.
Any one of these actions justifies impeachment, but that is secondary to what must happen right now. Congress must put its foot down. You must hold hearings with the President himself and demand answers, on the record, about his illegal use of force and his claim of unlimited authority.
If a president can fund troops with private money, bomb sovereign nations on his own say-so, and hand defense contracts to his family, then Congress no longer governs and the people no longer rule. That’s monarchy, not America.
This isn’t about party loyalty. It’s about preserving the separation of powers that keeps every American—Republican, Democrat, and Independent—free from tyranny. Reassert your authority. Call the hearings. Draw the line.
