Shout-out to @jamie-woodward.bsky.social for his new book 'A Little History of the Earth'. Great for #sociology students, e.g. chapter 3 for Visual Sociology (the importance of the 'Blue Marble' photo of the earth), and chapter 40 for Environmental Sociology (The Anthropocene: a human planet)
What do we know about the last surviving dinosaurs, living right before the asteroid? And is Nanotyrannus a tiny tyrannosaur species or juvenile T. rex?

The breach in the Llyn Eigiau Dam wall.
100 years ago today, following heavy rain, the dam failed flooding the village of Dolgarrog, resulting in the loss of 16 lives. I've past this dam several times, its remains are a sombre structure in the mountains above what was a peaceful village below.

Nanotyrannus is real.

For years I’ve considered many mid-sized gracile tyrannosaurs to be juvenile T. rex.

But I was wrong. This stunning new skeleton of a mature long-armed small tyrannosaur is clearly a different species.

Isn’t science fun?!
