3.2 billion year old microbial mats on one of Earth's first beaches. The dark wrinkles are the mats. This has been weathered, so the mat is easy to see. #geology #paleontology

Makes me want to cry and scream. The last time anything concrete was invented was the Tesla before the brand became toxic. Even Europe is innovating way ahead of here, and we have sophomoronic tech bros who are wrecking this country for shit gobble!

“You get this sense of a change, where China’s competitiveness has gone from being about government subsidies and low wages to a tremendous number of highly skilled, educated engineers who are innovating like mad.”

Discovered the Hot Ones channel and binge-watching it! It is so good! I wish I could try the whole wings and sauce deal (veg option). I think I would be able to get at least two-thirds of the way through before I start to suffer considering I love high spice levels!

Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.

Friends was still WAY better than Sex and the City. I couldn't fathom these bunch of women were touted as liberated when all they ever did was sleep around and then whine about how bad guys were when they made absolutely unhinged decisions themselves. None of them were even remotely likable!

We rewatched Friends one time and noticed what awful people all of them were. Ross and Monica, educated and from upper middle class affluence, were the worst. Rachel and Chandler, affluent, but less educated aspired to be as bad. Joey and Phoebe, less affluent & educated, were marginally better.

I agree. I could never get into Seinfeld for the same reason. It really wasn't as funny as folk made it out to be.

When the formatting directions from the production team come back with more changes you have to do that is equivalent to another round of review for an accepted manuscript 😵‍💫

I was going to delete this post based on what @mycenaeanatlas.bsky.social said under my original post and some reading I did as a result. I’ve decided instead to add some context and comments. 1/

The Peale mastodon at the National Portrait Gallery in 2021.

It’s the 1st mounted fossil skeleton displayed in the US (1805), and 2nd worldwide. Its original viewers didn’t know about evolution. Even extinction was a new concept. More fossils interpreted as history and art, please! #FossilFriday
