FWIW I also really hate the "this could be the UK/Eurozone" in a few years. It's silly.

Yes, Argentina was a wealthy country at the turn of the 20th Century, but it was an agro-export orientated one and once that dried up they kept frittering stuff away on short-term pork barrel projects.

The funny thing about Milei is that when you strip away the Pochita plushies and dog exorcism stuff he's basically just repeating the Menem playbook from the 1990s. Sorting out the Peso, preventing capital flight, but not really doing much to actually reform the Argentine economy.
