a basic social norm that many felt ill. A common excuse I see for why pro-democracy journalists & podcast hosts rarely TRULY probe Dem politicos for their fecklessness is that they want them to come back on their shows. But I think fear of breaking "social niceties" plays an even bigger role. [3/3]

I remember 20 yrs. ago reading in @nytimes.com about a lesser-known Stanley Milgram experiment (notorious for his electric shock & prison studies) in which students asked strangers sitting on NYC subways if they could have their seats. But the students felt so embarrassed to be violating such [2/3]

Major, MAJOR props to @mizzwelch.bsky.social on @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social for being willing to shatter elite Dem social etiquette by aggressively confronting @corybooker.com TO HIS FACE. I think people often underestimate how hard it is to break these social taboos. [1/3]

Cory Booker clearly wasn't expecting the pushback he got from @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social

This is the most amazing pushback ever.

She is 100% right and it is totally nuts to suggest that the Republicans never argue with each other.

@ericlisann.bsky.social: Holy crap! A Dem Sen got asked the kind of brutal, uncomfortable questions people like me have been craving for YRS! (& he got strong pushback for his lame answers.) Watching these clips was SO cathartic for me. Bravo, @ivehaditpodcast.bsky.social!!

Remember how under Biden the press said this was the biggest issue ever but how now under Trump it’s barely mentioned? Yeah.

Fox News host Emily Compagno claims that the backlash to Bari Weiss being named CBS News editor-in-chief is due to her being Jewish:

"This kind of thing would make me laugh if there was not an antisemitic thread in there."

In terms of cold-blooded murders, the Trump administration has already leapt past Jeffrey Dahmer (17) into Ted Bundy territory (30+).

That's twenty-seven flat-out murders. That's twenty-seven lives taken without even a semblance of a legal justification under domestic or international law.

Congress better hurry up and settle the shutdown before everyone figures out they’re nonessential personnel.

The grammar in that post is WAY too good to be Trump’s (proper use of quote marks, commas, capitalization, etc.) Must have been an aide or something?
jabbanobadda.bsky.social
Is that post real? If so, somebody else clearly wrote it. The sentence structure & grammar are WAY too good. It also feels too subdued. Maybe Trump dictated what he wanted posted to an aide & they took the liberty to polish it up?

normal person, not a lawyer! Say, "Garland was a disaster. He was FAR too slow & timid." Or, if you're one of the few Dem politicos who can sound authentic while swearing (like @betoorourke.bsky.social or @jasmineforus.bsky.social), be even more blunt: "Garland was a f**king catastrophe!" 5/ END
jabbanobadda.bsky.social
@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social offered only the meekest of criticism of Garland: "It SEEMS TO ME that [Garland] COULD have POTENTIALLY moved earlier & been more aggressive" (caps mine). Why do Dems ALWAYS insert these namby-pamby caveats when they talk? Talk like a friggin' 4/

What's amazing to me is that, per usual, there's been almost NO focus on the role of Garland's DOJ. Whether it be this, Hunter Biden, @ejeancarroll.bsky.social, John Durham, Jan. 6, etc., it's as if commentators think DOJ leadership transferred directly from Barr to Bondi.

Rachel Maddow runs through the incriminating chain of events that implicates Egypt's president for life Sisi - who Trump thanked today for his support in 2016 - in then funneling Trump $10 million. Maddow called out AG Barr for closing that investigation. But AG Garland did not re-open it.

Reminds me of when @adamschiff.com casually mentioned in an interview in spring 2022 that there was simply no "appetite" among Hse Dems to even consider using Sec. 3 of the 14th Amend. to expel their insurrectionist colleagues. I was enraged & despondent, but nobody else seemed to notice or care. 1/

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.
